I posted the following over on Card Captor Sakura on cheez tv http://animeboards.com/t23510/s.html
and I thought I should post it on this thread too.
Only just realised it today. Cheez missed the original episode 11 when we first see Tomoyo's residence yesterday (21-8-2001). It is also the episode where Sakura captures the Shield Card that is used to block Time's effects in the following episode (shown on 21-8-2001)

*cries* oh my poor, poor Card Captor Sakura...when will this madness end?...

I forgot to mention that it might be possible that Jap ep 11 hasn't even been dubbed yet which is why it was skipped. Something I saw coming ever since I realised that Cheez was showing them in original Japanese order. :D
**scheming to someday have in his possession a Sakaba sword so he can beat the dubbers silly with one edge and then slice them into little, itty, bitty pieces with the other.
Ah, I was wondering what was up with the mysterious shield card.

The reason why Episode 11 will never see the light of day on network television is as follows.
You see, Warner brothers (QUOTE) wanted "Cardcaptors" to be a part of Toonami's "Hardcore Action" package.
Unfortunately, no amount of mean spirited syntheiser music or bad dubbing can turn Episode 11 into the hypocritical and sexist b^llsh!t that they murdered the previous episodes into:
For it is an incredibly sweet, hearwarming, nice and downright sentimental episode of friendship, nostalgia and warmth that is blissfully (or for Toonami, unfortunately) devoid of any action.
"Hence", they thought, "why not skip it altogether."
"After all, we want kids out there to think that the Japanese are a race of violent capitalist harbour-bombing bogemen who don't exist (hence we Americanise names without bothering to paint out Japanese words on newspapers) and kids to think that girls are not capable of mental or emotional capacity beyond that of a grapefruit. Show this episode and our tyrannical crusade for money and sexism will all be for naught."
THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why the poetry that is Episode 11 will not be in the west outside specialist DVD store release.
Good Day.
And incidentally, why a SAKABA sword? For this purpose, a double edged Damascean Falcion with jagged sawlike edge will be MUCH more appropriate in disembowling those semen drinking motherf^ckers!!

Blech, I just hate it when people butcher Japanese names on Dubs. C'mon, Madison for the love of GOD?!!! Kero sounds better in Japanese too IMO. That's why I like subs better.

So do you think they will dub the movies?
rascal45
25-08-01, 03:43 PM
Highly unlikely. I don't know but in one of the movies or audio features, Tomoya did say that she was in love with Sakura (in a shoujo-ai type of manner), so it leaves some to wonder.

For inspiriation of what to do to the motherf^cking editors, read Marvel's single volume compilation of the 12 book series "The Punisher: Welcome Back Frank."
For Example: Shove the censors into a tank of piranahs.
Feed the censor to a pack of polar bears
Shove the censor in the path of a speeding train
Tie the censor up and duct tape his mouth so he can't scream, and throwing him off the top of the Empire state building.
Send the censor screaming to hell with a flamethrower.
Suffocate the censor by smothering him beneath a 600 pound man.
I can go on ALL day, but do read it for yourself for ideas of giving the murderers of our dear Sakura-Chan and Tomoyo-Chan what's coming to them. :)
well, i watched an episode of the dubbed CCS on cable (Toonami)
:shudders:
i've seen the subbed CCS series and although i think it's just way too cute for me to totally love it - i definately did not hate the series.
in general......i can't stand dubbed series' - although i guess there are a few exceptions of series that were dubbed and didn't turn out to be that horrendous.
On the other hand however, dubbed CCS........ :shivers:

Yeah, I suppose. I just think such a sword would just restrict my options too much, even though sawing through them has more appeal than slicing through them.
Another Episode Dropped!!
Realised this sometime ago but haven't had the time to post it. They dropped another episode last week. In the long run, I don't think it really matters, though. A very short spiel follows below if you want an idea of what you missed.
**Spoilers**
The card captured was "The Mist" card. They probably dropped this ep because Touya was roped into playing the role of Cinderella in the class play for his school's culture festival. I don't remember much more, but I think Yukito played the Prince or something. If he did, such a yaoi connection would definitely disqualify the ep for American consumption.

lol I noticed that too but hey let's not complain too much...we got better deal then americans at least did not start with episode 8 in Japanese version and actually sakura has more screen time since it got less edited then the american version. I gotta save up money to buy at least one DVD that's out now on the market O.o...

All my references are to the original Japanese ep numbers. According to my list it was the Shield card. The first inkling that they may have actually put it to air somewhere in Australia was at the Card Captorz site which was listing eps that went to air. But I almost definitely sure that Melbourne didn't get it from Cheez TV. Unless they pulled something REALLY shifty, no one in Melbourne saw it free to air. I remember a post shortly after that one confirms that it was dropped in Melbourne.
I can post a list of eps that were dropped and a short synopsis if anyone wants. Just let my know. :)

...The original Cardcaptor Sakura was meant for children between ages 7-10. This american version, Cardcaptors has been added to the WB channel as a "cartoon." Now notice, you might care that it has been changed, but don't take out your anger on Nelvana because they developed DVD's and VHS' with the original japanese dialogue. Please be rational...

I don't know! I'm sure I saw her catch the Shield card but whether it was on Cheez TV or CN I don't know.
Did she get that card by opening some sort of box which ended up having cherry blossoms in it from Sakura's mum? Or am I completely wrong?

Icantpickascreename: What you've stated is about the only thing that'll keep them alive. As I've said before, Nearly all the blame goes to WB for setting such ridiculous contraints to a beautiful anime. Still, Nelvana were the the ones to cast the totally unmatching voices.

Again I'm not sure it was broadcasted on Cheez in Sydney but I'm quite certain that they didn't do it in Melbourne.
*Spoiler present in answer to above Q*
Yes, Sakura visited Tomoyo's house and cut the shield created by the Shield Card with The Sword. In it were the bouquet(sp) from Nadesico's wedding and an eraser *phew, nearly typed "rubber"* from Sakura.

If you think I'm trying to defend Kids WB and Nelvana, that's not true! If you want to make an altercation, fine, but what they all ready did has been done! You can't change it! The only thing to do is watch the original Cardcaptor Sakura on DVD!

why on earth is this here anyway?? This is rather offensive material because it is supposed to be a Card Captor Sakura message board, NOT a CC message board. As such, it is what may be considered a haven for CCS fans against the offensive and utterly disgusting CC. Daidjoubu!! Pioneer will set things right! Subbed/Dubbed DVDs are here!!

we were comparing American dubs with the australian/english ones and how the australian one kept more with the story.
but.. i know what you mean about Cardcaptors!!
I have seen the australian one, but not the american one. Still, even if it were better, it is still mutilated. :(

18-11-01, 05:42 PM
yeah but can you kinda stop going and posting saying why are we using even the dub name etc...thaty isn't going to fix the problem. anyways it has mismatched voice but hey it can't be too bad when it was shown in order, sakura did more screen time, original opening and music(minus the lyrics). that is a lot more bonus then America's totally mutilated ones..I wouldn't call Australian ones 'mutilated' but changed since we got to see episodes they didn't and in order too. Plus Sakura still had more screen time which is crucial so it gave her the lime light then to Sayoran like in the American Dubebd version. only thing I didn't like was the voice, names and arghh they still used 'card captors' only Sakura is the true card captor!!!! noone else geez nothing much else.

Hmm... I should have kown nobody would be dumb to take their side. Sorry.
But as for the "... but what they all ready did has been done! You can't change it!", it doesn't really cut it considering the crap they would have heard about with all the other dubs and they still pull off that kind of job. Really unbelievable.
icie: if you've seen the Australian one, don't bother with the American one. It's worse by reputation. No one in their right mind would watch it if they had an alternative.
correction: I saw the first 3 episodes of the Australian one. They shuffled the episodes around anyway...
I have seen the whole series of CCS (yes, the japanese one) though.

Australian on Cheez TV or Pay TV? Cuz Cheez didn't shuffle them, they just dropped one here and there. It just sounds really dodgy since the eps dubbed to be played in a different order.
c'mon people? I didn't watch all of it. But some of my friends did and they got really confused with the plot...

arghhh this is getting confusing they *DID* not change the order, that's final and clear I may have missed few of the episodes but still I know they were shown in order! don't tell me you believe your friends on those matters like that! don't you ever check for your self anyways? the first episode in the DVD released in Australia the dubded one if the *first* episode in Japanese version. and if your friends got confused they either don't understand CCS story or never heard of it before or they live in America or allof you live in America so never really seen much of what's on Australian TV, does that make things clear?
Chieri:mad:
I did not say that I believe that the order was changed. So there is no need to get frustrated over that. However, my friends got confused with the plot. Since I had heard something regarding reshuffling of episodes in CC in US, I thought maybe that had happened in the Australian one as well. Now I had retracted that thought since second last post. Anyway, it is still mutilated (just not as drastically, but still...). So you see, whether they skipped episodes or not, is not a very important question. My friends and I are in Australia, and they watched it on Cheez TV, although I might be buying the Pioneer sub DVDs later on.
Can't stand dubs.
Well I managed to watch the whole series on Cheez TV, I use the term 'whole' lightly, gotta give it to Toonami, those guy cut more eps than FUNi did to DBZ, it takes real talent to turn two series of eps into one.
I have recently managed to see some subbed eps lately and it didn't raise my respect for the show very much, this show may be a little more 'naughty' in its original form but the questionable storyline and well as the fantastically dissappointing (laughable really) ending of the second series remain.

And I gotta say this.
Whether it's the original or the dub, CCS DOES leave a question with our rate of "maturity" and "morals".
...Honestly, I wouldn't have watched either except to just watch it because fo my prissy lil' cousins who have no idea what rights a 10-yr-old gal has and what rights she oughta not have.
