Heroine redesign

Well reading the favorite/least favorite character thread it seems several of us...for one reason or another...really dislike Miaka. Kind of interesting that we all love Fushigi Yuugi but disagree with the main character.
So here's my question:
If you had been the one designing Miaka, what would you have done to change her? Less ditzy? Less disgustingly nice? Less hungry??
Any physical changes?

Baka me...I forgot to answer my own question. I would mave made her a bit less...well..Usagi like. A little less brain dead and disgustingly nice. Maybe let her have a selfish moment just to show she's human? I dunno.

I would have cut out that, as well as all the time she would say Tamahome more then once in a paragraph or sentence. It gets really annoying when here whole sentence is "Tamahome, Tamahome, TAMAHOME!"..... its gets really repetitive, really old, really fast. ugh. :dead:

Ummm...I believe Miaka WAS quite selfish at first! I mean, think back to why she decided to become the Suzaku no Miko to begin with!

There's also the fact that everything she does seems to be completely counter productive. Like when

Chichiri tells her not to put people in danger anymore, so what does she do? Runs off into enemy territory, knowing full well that Tamohome is going to follow her into enemy territory, putting his life in danger:rolleyes:

Ummm...just a coincidence, I'm sure. She really didn't want Tamahome to follow her, but Tamahome couldn't help himself. He was too worried about her.

-- Been attacked by a tiger, then waits in the same place and thinks it's safe ..."if I stay right here in the light it'll be okay!" (of course Tamahome isn't too bright for letting her stay there either ...)

-- Leaves for enemy territory by herself thinking that nobody would follow, practically right after Chichiri lectured her. (like Yui said ...)

-- Decides sleeping with Nakago would be the best way of getting the shinzaho back. (Rather than having her seishi attack the Seiryuu?)

-- When her brother tells her that being in the book could get her killed she destroys her one link to him. (WTF?)

Okay, so maybe she's even more dumb then Usagi ...let's see, on the baka scale she's a 10 :heh: As for what I'd change? Hmmm ...probably nothing. It's pretty rare to find girls as faithful to her friends as she is ...and her idiocy is more cute than anything. Of course, I'm probably one of the only people who'd leave her as she is :stareup:

hmm...I agree with all of you that she's a naive, self-serving lil girl. If she would stop being so selfish and actually care about others and their well-being, then that would be something else. She's also very stubborn, greedy, and if I have to hear her scream TAMAHOME one more time, I'm going to slap her...

btw, she knows all the guys, especially her seishi(sp?) are in love with her and she still doesn't get it...tsk tsk

I love the fact that she is so loyal to her friends. The biggest thing that I would change about Miaka would be her eating. I mean she would be in the middle of escaping from where ever it was that that moment in time, and she would smell food. Instead of escaping she stops and eats. Which just causes more problems. I didn't think that anyone could be worse than Usagi about food, but Miaka definately beat her on that one.

well i do think in real life i would have prefered yui- but i the think the series writer (lost the name just now) got a lot of things right about miaka-most of us are pretty selfish at that age,and do tend to do some pretty dumb things with that weird teenage thinking.....as for the food thing though-well,she's a growing girl!!

In that case, Miaka needs to be turned into a heerogf. She needs a total makeover anyway.

i hated miaka for so many reason.. i would love to change her..
like she was hungry all the damn time.. no person can consume that much food and not gain any weight..
she needed to think before she acted.. yeah if she ran away to kutou it would get her away.. but what good is she doing?? :confused: none..
she also can't have all the guys.. that is so unfair..
and she can't be that braindead.. she needs to think sometime.. .and she also needs to realize taht what might be good then might not be good inthe long run.. and she needs better communication skills with tamahomo... i mean tell him what you are thinking,.. you never know it may be important!!!!

if miaka was anything like me, everybody on the show would be happy, she'll be strong and not let any of her friends die, she won't break hotohori's heart, and she won't get in trouble all the time

is it possible to not break hotohori's heart? of course if she had gone with him,then tamahome would have his heart broken,and everyone would be upset about that...so i don't think the guy she ends up with is something that needs to be changed....although if i had made the series,i don't think i would have wanted all the guys to be in love with her

u do have a point there, she doesn't have to go with hotohori, but she should at least treat him better or...oh i dont know, it's just that i feel so sad for hotohori :bawling: but yes, if i can also changed other characters i would make hotohori fall in love with nuriko ^^x or atleast somebody else who love him and care for him back, cos he deserve better

no one likes miaka? wow..thats suprising...the only thing id change about Miaka is how she eats...thats surreal but i really like the fact that she'd do anything for her teammates..

although some people think miaka has a lack of common sense, think she's very brave and corageous...she'd sacrifce herself for her teammates, and thats a nice attribute to have..

but about that Tamahome, TAMAHOME thing...yea, thats pretty annoying and repetetive ^^
