why is lodoss war so great

hey, how come this series has it's own little folder or whatever? i really don't like it..card captors is way better and it doesn't even have it. what's so great about lodoss war? i really don't like it...the anime story is boring and the drawings are not very nice either. someone tell me why lodoss war is so damn good?!

Lodoss is my fav anime.
To me the story is great. I love the old D&D feel to it and the charaters get developed good. Beautiful music also which i love.

I love Lodoss War (the original ovas, not the newer tv series).
It's great because it has an epic story in a fantasy land and it has that great rpg feel of a group of people banding together to save the world.
The characters are great, too.

If you really don't like Lodoss war, i suggest that you go rent the two dvds (13 episodes, 2 dvds :D ) and watch it start to finish, subtitled.

I think it's an anime classic and I give it my seal of approval.

Personal opinion my friend. I personally think Record of Lodoss War is far better than CCS (and yes, I'm talking about the original unedited).

To me, its great because the art was extremely good for 1990, and the story is epic fantasy, just like Dungeons and Dragons. It has everything a fantasy and adventure lover could want.

The OVA's were great because they had a good story and was very well paced for a 13 episode series.

The TV series was great because it told the canon story verbatum the original 7 novels that Ryo Mizuno wrote.

I just wish those novels and all of the short stories were available in America.

Personally I like RoLW very much (The OVA, I haven't seen the TV series yet)... it's a matter of opinion.

It got it's own folder 'cause members asked for it... I'm sure CCS can get one too if people just ask.

I think RoLW're a great anime mostly 'cause of it's story... I've always liked stories in the fantasy genre, and liked the art too.

i love lodoss war its great i've got the first 4 eps now and it just gets better.

I really don't think you can compare this series with card captor sakura.

well, since you all put it that way, i guess i should give the anime another chance. ^^

did you guys watch the subtitled version or the dubbed version? which version is better? i would like to know so i can watch the better version. ^^ cuz most subtitled anime are better than the dubbed ones to me.

I saw the Dub, and I actually think that aside from the Priest Etoh's voice, its one of the better Dubs out there.

Bah, the TV series doesn't have crap animation. It has great color, some really nice background animations, and some of the battles are really well done and are, in fact, more fluid than the OVA. (That Ashram vs. Kashue fight was great).

The character animation isn't *bad* by any means, its just not as high quality as the OVA, but WHAT THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT? Its a *TV SERIES!* Very few TV series I've ever seen have ever surpassed their OVA counterparts in Animation. Its all about the budget people. OVA's are shorter, but they get more money put into animation.

The OVA still reigns as one of my all time favorite animes, but the TV series is still good.

I think Record of the Lodoss war appeals more to the fantasy people. It ties in with a lot of elements from d&d, so most people who have played d&d will love lodoss war. No matter how they look at it, most of the giant mecha fans won't like lodoss war.

Yes... the fantasy people definitely have a strong attachment to Lodoss war. I dabled in d and d but i was really addicted to M:TG for awhile. But anyways... i happen to like mechs as well, so that last statement doesn't hold true for all people.... just most. :heh: But anyways, thats why this had its own forum.

I agree thought. CCS needs its own forum as well, if you want it that bad to go the forum request forum... theres been a couple of CCS forum requests (I myself have signed some of the CCS requests too.... ^^)

There are lots of fan of D&D and anime,me included and for us to see them merge into Record of Lodoss War was a blessing.I think it's much better than CCS(Then again I think anything is better than CCS,don't like magic girls anime much).
