Hey now, it's true that there's rocks with more intelligence, but Miaka is pretty kawaii. She's a red-head that's all heart, how could a guy not love that? :D

I read that post over a couple times and for some reason it just sounded really weird. So how long have you been into cel collecting? And do you collect any specific series? I made the mistake of getting attached to Nadesico cels ...they're so awesome, but cost sooooooooooo damn much.

Well, it made sense from the naive Miaka and the protective Miaka standpoints... Naivety and desires to protect are pretty common in anime.

As for cels...
I only have three Fushigi Yuugi cels, one of Tasuki, a cute one of Chichiri and my favorite FY cel, this pan of Tamahome:

Unfortunately, because this one was so freaking long (31 inches!) the studio folded it across the boot when they were done with it. :( That doesn't stop it from being my second favourite cel in my collection, though.

Nadesico, ouch. That is one expensive series. I tend to be more of a character collector, say, Sakura from Hyper Police. I also tend to pick up cels that I think are unique and of course that I just plain like, so my collection is pretty mixed right now. I recently decided that I'd like to collect Utena, but as I am fairly broke at the moment, this is not a terribly good idea. Why is it that the expensive series are so attractive? *sigh*

And good gawd ...31 inches? How do you store a cel that big? That's HUGE! My biggest cel is 20", and I had to store it in a special cel book - but there's no way it'd hold a cel that big. :eek:

And Doku-beibi, I'm almost always clueless :P ...so it should be no surprise that I dunno what you mean. So, if you get a chance, please post your third essay :o

As for me getting into cel collecting, I was introduced by a very evil friend of mine as well :D She'll probably never be forgiven, unless she trades me her Yurika :lol:

Yep, it's from the last eppy. The minute I saw it, I had to grab it. I love pan cels. :) Storage=2X3 foot archival safe mylar envelopes (http://nt.bnt.com/talas/menu.html?category=109). ( As for evil friends who get us unsuspecting anime fans addicted to cel collecting...mine had better trade me her Gatts! (Berserk) Of course, she told me she would only let it go over her dead body, so... -- :look:

I just want to volunteer that I'm a baka. I'm a complete and total baka. Here's why....I gave up a chance to buy a cel because I'm bad at math. My first day on my Canadian vacation I found a FY cel (I'll tell you which one in a min.) for 150 bucks with time sheets and pencil sketches. Well me being a broke college kid I thought that was too much to shell out so I didn't buy it. Then I learned about a little marvel called the EXCHANGE RATE...I would have actually gotten the cel for about 75 us bucks. :homer: "DOH!" Anyways...I missed out on buying (spoilers for people who haven't seen the OAV)



















The Tasuki/Miaka kiss. (artificial respiration my foot!) I can't believe I passed it up...waaaaah. I went back after I discovered about currency exchanges but they'd sold it. I'll forever kick myself for that one.

Ouch! I guess I take exchange rates for granted because I've been out of the country so many times. Just so everyone knows, the cels I posted earlier will be coming down in the next couple of days because I just sold my collection off. I had to take a break from it for a while . . .way too easy to spend money, and my bank account ..ouch :sweatdrop (Of course, I'll probably get back into it next year when I go to AX and Japan ;) )

~the red hood Trust me it wasn't easy ...oi, in fact I was secretly hoping when I posted about selling them at Animanga that nobody would want the whole collection. Ah well, I it was nice to have but I didn't really love all the cels, only a couple of them. Next time I'll be more picky on which ones I'll buy because those will be staying with me for loooong time ;) Besides, quiting now gives me about a year to save up for my new collection :D

You know ...the only thing that really stinks is I still haven't been to a cel meeting and the first one I'll be going to (at AWA) I won't have anything to show :bawling:

Well I hope you make it out to AX next year, I'll start *really* planning the trip around December ...I can't wait, it's just under a year away :P

Well, with a year's worth of savings, you'll be off to a nice start when you return to the world of cel collecting. And you may not have any cels to show off at AWA, but at least you'll be going to a cel meeting! I have yet to attend one. :(

I'm definitely hoping to make it to AX 2002...complete with a couple of cosplay costumes, but it does depend on some other plans... *sigh* Planning a year in advance is not one of my talents.

Well trust me, of all the conventions you'll want to go to AX is it ...I've heard nothing but great things about the cel panel and, well ...it's AX - it's freakin' huge! And now it's becoming debatable whether I'll be going to AWA ...*sigh* ...I need to save up more money for my Japan trip, which means AWA is probably going to get bumped from the list of cool places to go. Oh well, there's always AX ... :D

So any plans on what your costumes are going to be? (Not trying to change the topic again, I promise Usagi!) And, if you do get to go, do you think you'll bring your collection to AX?

That's too bad about AWA..., but if you do make it, you'll have to tell me about it. :D Though, money in Japan is a good thing...Japan does have all of those tempting anime and cel shops. Living expenses are greater as well.

As for AX, I'm planning on it. The only things that concern me are how big it's gotten and all the problems that come along with that, but I'd rather be there than not. I'm hoping to bring my cel books, but as there's a limit to what I can carry :(, I'll see. I'm sure I'll do my best, though, which probably means yes. :)

Current costume plans:

Wakaba from Utena, black rose duellist version. I'm rather tall for her at 5'6", but my brown eye/brown hair complexion is closer to hers than Juri's (the only 5'6" Utena character, I think)

Sango from Inu Yasha. The giant boomerang will be fun. :p

How about you? If you're tempted a little too much by any cels between now will you bring them? And how about costume ideas?

You know, I get the feeling that either there's only like 3 members total on these boards that collect cels (including me) or there's a bunch of collectors who are very shy. Come one people post your cels! (especially since I no longer have a collection I want to see everyone else's beauties :) )

About AWA - yeah it's a bummer (I'm almost positive I won't be going now :( ) ...especially since there seems to be a lot of members from here going it'd be really cool to meet with everyone. *sigh*

AX, on the other hand is a definite ...there's no way I'll miss this coming show - I've already got the request in for time off ;) If I pick up anything from now till then that I consider worthwhile I'll bring it. (Though I've been avoiding cels.org and ebay lately on purpose to save money ...but that won't last long :rolleyes: ) I'm sure there'll be a get together before or during the show too, someone from Animanga is always throwing something together for the collectors to meet up. As for a cosplay costume, I'm clueless ...I don't really look like an anime character (that I know of... ) so I'll probably dress up as an anime fan hahaha. Original, eh? :p Who knows though, I may come up with something [better] in coming months, at least I have time ;)

BTW - I like your costume ideas :D Do you make them yourself or do you have a place make them for you?

That's a quest for the members board, since a lot more people post there... Many of the regular anime boards can be quite dead. :(

I'm glad to hear that you're definitely going. It'll be nice to meet you. (I'm going to think positive that I'm going to be there. Positive thoughts, think positive thoughts)

You don't look like *any* anime characters? There are so many characters that there has to be at least one. And who says you have to look like a character to dress up as them? :D

As for my costumes, I'm going to make them myself, and though I've put costumes together before, I've never done one as involved as I know Sango's will be, so wish me luck. I'm likely going to need it.

I hope I'll be able to go to AX next year, but it's so early in the summer, it's more than likely that I won't have the money yet... ;_; Well I'm going to AWA this year... I was thinking of cosplaying Chidori from Ayashi no Ceres, but how the hell am I supposed to make a jap girl school uniform in such a short time? **;;; And anyway, I'm not even near to be as cute as Chidori. ^^;
But if I'm rich when I'll go to AWA (which I doubt) I'll buy cells if I find any interesting. ;)
