View Full Version : Ah! My Goddess fanfiction
Does anyone know of any good AMG fanfiction that I haven't read yet?
AMG is the series that got me started on fanfics so I've read a lot of them.
The best would be :
"Miss Keiishi Returns" by Wong Si Yuang (can be found on http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/1427/ )
and theres also the whole "Oh! My God" series over on www.ozanime.com
plus a bunch more I'm forgetting.
so, do you guys know of any other great ones?

Hey, Mr_Bug, nobody's replied to you on this?
*checks rules page to make sure there isn't some law against talking about fanfiction*
I haven't really read "Miss Keiichi Returns" but I've heard good things.
Brett's "Oh My God" is an oldie but goodie. So good that it looks like many fanfic authors have taken some of his assumptions as canon (i.e. all deities have domains, deities and demons try to kill each other, etc.) when they aren't. Not Brett's fault, of course. :rolleyes2
Some others you might consider:
WAFF - Warm And Fuzzy Feeling:
Scenes from a Life
The Rising Sun
Tear Jerkers/Heart Renders:
The Forever Widow
So Many Memories
Dramatic:
The Quest for the Goddesses - Tom Clancy meets AMG.
Trial by Tenderness - I only include this because it's so HUGE and some folks (not yours truly) like it - WAAAAAAY DARK!
Crossovers:
There's a million-and-one Ranma crossovers, 99.999% of which are 100.000% cow manure. I can think of 2 exceptions:
Ranma's Apartment - Not bad, especially for Megumi fans.
The Way of Heaven - Urd, Belldandy, and Skuld as Kasumi, Nabiki, and Akane, respectively. Urd as Kasumi is a RIOT! The lecture she gives Ranma about coming to dinner sweaty is priceless! Only 3 chapters, but still worth the read unless you can't stand to read unfinished stuff.
Other Crossovers:
Oh! My Devil Hunter - Guess what this one's about!
Aa! Megami-sensei - Massive Xover, Urd teaching chemistry at Furinkan High School? :eek2:
Then, there's the most unlikely crossover of all:
Dire Fates - Cross AMG with Hellblazer and you get an instant CLASSIC! Who'd have thought it could ever work? Not much of Belldandy here, but a must for Skuld fans or anyone who doesn't absolutely need to see lots of Bell-chan in a fic. This has 2 related stories which aren't quite as good, but still better than 95% of AMG fanfics.
Then, if you're ready for a side-splitting dose of pure, 100% unadulterated insanity:
Magical Girls Nightmare Team - C-ko makes a wish. 'Nuff said. :eek2:
Cruel and Unusual Punishment - Loki gets it - BIG TIME!
Visitors - Bell-chan, 'nuff said. :rolleyes2
Well, that should keep you busy for a while. If you need them, I can try to dig up links. :)
thanks WelsperTheCat,
I've read several of the ones you mentioned, espicially the WAFF ones, im a sucker for those :heh:
The problem with AMG fanfics is that there are too many ACC's and crossovers, most of which are bad.
I personnaly can't really stand ACC's (unless the play a minor role), so OMGod was a delightful surpise.
Anyway, I don't think there's much new in the of fanfics for this series lately, so I 'll just have to keep the ones I have.
If ya wan't, I can send you "Miss Keiichi Returns", it's really great despite an ACC, I was quite surprised that it's so hard to find... oh well....

I don't mind ACC's (Author-Created Characters, for our gentle readers who might wonder what ACC's are) as long as they aren't either irrelevant or (more likely, and much worse) make the original cast look bad. Sometimes (hopefully) they even fill a hole in the storyline.
IMO the reason Oh My God! works even though it's even 'worse' than an ACC, it's a self-insert, is that Brett didn't make his character better than the others. Also, Brett fills a void in the AMG world - a companion for Urd (and worthy of her love). In other words, Urd falls for him, but he in no way overshadows her. That's where the other self-inserts which attempted the same thing (god boyfriend for Urd) messed up - the guy either wasn't devoted to her (in which case Urd wouldn't stick around) or was too powerful (which shifts the focus away from Urd-sama).
I've got "Miss Keiichi Returns" on my hard drive, just haven't read it, yet. :D
The problem with most crossovers is that authors, especially those from action manga, assume that just because the goddesses aren't blasting away all the time it means they are basically weaklings. If I have to read another story where a goddess has trouble handling a Ranma chi attack... Or, worse yet, hear some idiot say "Saffron was a god, and Ranma killed him!" Heck, if I decide to worship Bill Gates and make him my god, does that mean he's suddenly imbued with god-like powers? Saffron couldn't have taken the 5th class Earth Spirit which guards Megumi's apartment - Ranman couldn't, either, for that matter.
OK, rant over (it's just that most Ranma fiction is sooooooo bad!) :)
