For those who want to know just how *close* Parn and Deedlit are....

Well, any Lodoss Fans who have already seen the OVA, the TV series, and possibly read the prequel manga "Lady of Phalis" will have something new to look forward to.

Released sometime in June of this year in Japan, a Manga called "Lodoss War: Deedlit's Tales," was released. It is a romantic manga for the most part, it takes place after the TV series when Parn and Deedlit set off together, the war with Marmo having ended forever with Ashram's depart.

They come to some remote city (thats the only information Animerica gave) which is being ruled by a tyrannical diplomat guy who governs the city with an iron fist. Parn and Deedlit begin to lead a revolution in an attempt to get the citizens to rebel against his unjust rulership. During this revolution, Parn and Deedlit (get this!!!) *share* a cabin together.

Animerica only comments that they will "Get closer" during the manga, and that whatever happens, it will be a true romantic manga, with the action and fantasy still being present during the whole Revolution plotline.

The only problem is that I don't think Ryo Mizuno ever wrote this kind of story, therefore the writers have nothing to base this on and there might be some continuity errors, but I haven't actually read it yet. I believe the team doing the Manga is the same who did the Gundam Wing Manga adaptation.

Its already out in Japan, and may have been released in America, but I'm not sure. But, if any of you are interested in seeing what happens to Parn and Deedlits relationship after the war, this will probably be a must have.

It's not a matter of being approved or not, in fact, I'd rather it not be, cause that just means someone is selling out. I don't know that I've ever seen one artist do someone else's work better than the creator could. DBGT not as good as DBZ or DB. Madonna and her butchering of "American Pie" and yes, all those crappy crappy Star Wars novels.

I bought issue 1 just recently and its actually quite good. I hope I can say without spoiling it for anyone that Deedlit experiences some conflicting emotions due to the species difference. The conflict actually arises from a new person in the story, but who it is I wont say.

I just bought the first book as well, the art;s pretty good, but right now the storyline seems worse than a preteen romance flick... you know, girl loves someone from the wrong side of town, guy from her childhood mysteriously appears, creating a conflict type thing...

The Manga is about how Deedlit and Parn's relationship starts to grow and get more intimate. It happens while they are staying somewhere in Zaxon while trying to help the towns people stand up to a tyrannical lord, probably someone who was loyal to Duke Rastor.

Ah I see. The new character is another Half Elf, a male Half Elf who is in love with Deedlit, apparently has been for over 20 years or something.

So yes, he is Parn's competition for Deedlit's affections, although I think its safe to say that Parn could hold on to Deedlit so long as he actually *tries* (Stupid idiot Parn).

Ah well, its supposed to be about how their relationship deepens, so maybe now he will care about her. Maybe now he will realize: "Damn, this Elf Girl is Hot! And She can Kick @ss! And she's in Love with me! I've got it made!"

I finally got the first issue, and I got a couple of questions:

1.) 1/2 Elf? Deed I know, is a full blood High Elf, and hails from the Forest of No Return. 1/2 elves, being of part human blood aren't immortal and thus the time shifting effects of the Forest of No Return would affect them. If Estas is a 1/2 elf, why would he live in the Forest of No Return? I thought he was a high elf..... of pure blood...

2.) I quote from the manga, "I was the only child born in the last 1000 years...." ewwwww...... he was over 1000 when she was born...... I guess it really doesn't matter with elves as long as the person "matures" first, but still......:eek:

3.) Parn is such a lucky @$$!!! I mean, Deed's a bit surprised and embarrassed when Estas asks if "she's done anything with him"
Such a ignorant fool... and sure, this elf comes out of no where and starts hitting on his girl, sure let's leave them alone... baka....

4.) How many issues have been released so far?

Having not been to a good comic shop in a long time, I haven't been able to buy any of the issues. Since Ryo Mizuno only helped make the story, and didn't actually base it on any of his pre-established novels (IIRC, the person who did the Gundam WIng Manga is in charge of the Deedlit's Tale Manga), so the 1/2 elf Thing is either a typo or a continuity error.

1/2 elves shouldn't be eternal, though they should probably never physically age past 30 or 35, maybe 40 but I doubt it, and would live at least several 100 years. A 1000 though? Well, Lodoss is a different Fantasy Universe, so who knows.

Still, it was explained that the Forest of no Return causes you to age faster, but Elves are unaffected for obvious reasons, it simply doesn't matter to them. A Half-Elf, however, would have his whole life cut in half (at least) if he spent that much time in the forest.

I think its a typo, since every reference to Estas I've seen on Centralparkmedia.com has been that he's a high elf.

Shouldn't matter since Elves have eternal youth and beauty. Deedlit would look just as good as she is now when she turns the big 1000.

Plus, are you sure he said he was a 1000 years old. Your quote does say: *in the last* 1000 years, which implies that it was at "some point in the last 1000", but not exactly 1000 years.

Yes he is lucky. And if I were Parnand Estas asked me if I had "done anything with her," I would nod and say yes (even if I hadn't, though If I were him from the very beginning I would have maybe 3 or 4 days after the Karla fight.



4.) How many issues have been released so far?;)

As I said, I can't find out due to lack of comic shop in my area (a good one anyway. The nearest is really good for cards). You can look at Central Park Media.com however. I think its somewhere like issue 7 or something.

That quote about being the only elf being born in a 1000 years was said by Deedlit.

What I infered from that was that any other elf, ie Estas, would at minimuim have to be 1000 + Deed's age ( I forget.... around 165 ish?) when this manga takes place.

There seems to be a bunch of little typos around here. The reason Estas jumped on Deed about ummmm..... doing stuff with Parn is because she was on a tangent when talking about Parn and said "High Elves only act like spirits, but we have bodies. but since we're not attached to our bodies, we don't give birth to new generations."

I had the MOST issues with this. No little elves? Don't tell me they come out of flowers or some other disney crap like that. Plus, that makes the whole concept of creating 1/2 elves impossible, and we know there are 1/2 elves in Lodoss.... weird.....

LOL, I just remembered that scene in the "Welcome to Lodoss Island" Super Deformed mini's when Parn, Deed, and Kashue were walking through the land and Parn abrubtly stopped.

After the chaotic period of tripping over eachother:
