KTEH an affiliate of PBS is broadcasting anime every sunday. Its avaliable only in the SF Bay Area.

Today, they just aired the first 3 episodes of Lain (just ended 5 minutes ago). They run on the donations of people (they don't have commercials) so all they do is talk all the time about having people pledging.

All dubbed anime sounds bad in my opinion. I guess I'll just have to learn Japanese. Unfortunatly, I missed my last Japanese class since I was in Los Angeles.

Supporting characters tend to get crappier voice actors (or the voice acting direction is lackluster). The price we pay.

I wonder how many people will directly or indirectly become members here on the basis of watching Lain on PBS...

The English voice actor of lain wasnt bad...
Whats her name?
I remember hearing other characters from other different series that sounded like her.

I know this will sound contradictory due to my stance on dubbing.... but she actually wasn't too bad.

But you guys are serious? Lain was on PBS out there in Cali? Man thatas a trip.

Well I must say you guys are lucky to even have quality anime such as Lain to even be aired in your area...so I'd stop biatching about it being dubbed :P

Dubbed is all i've ever know Lain from anyways. I own the Vids and never seen them subbed in the states. DVDs have sub or dub option right? Or did they pick the "screw you" option and you have to buy DVDs in Dubs or Subs?

I thought the dubbing on Lain was pretty good as far as anime goes. It certainly is better than Nadesico's IMHO. I started the series with Japanese audio and english subs but I got lazy and let it go on my DVD player's defaults of English dubbing.

I guess I'll watch it over again with Japanese audio.

Well, they are already airing Eva. Only the series has been interupted a few times. It starts again in 2 weeks. Lain kinda confused me so I would rather watch Eva anyways.

Welcome to Animeboards, AJ1107. :wavey: See you got around to posting.

Did you see it all the way through? What did you find the most confusing?

i saw lain on t.v. aswell, i did not pledge because i am basicly broke. i thought it would be subbed like the rest of the anime they show. it is also the first time i saw lain and i still thought it was good even though it was a dub.

I tuned in when it was on the second episode, so to avoid confusion with the rest of the series, I decided not to watch.
