i just cant stand zac bertschy a.k.a. Answerman (a reviewer of anime)! he gives the WORST reviews, and some of his reviews for anime titles, he hasnt even finished watching yet! (like dual etc.) anyway, i just saw the OMG dvd vol.1, and i looked for a review for the adventure of mini goddesses, and here is:
Reviewer: Zac Bertschy
Episodes reviewed: 1-26, subtitled Grade: 77% (C+)
Adventures of the Mini-Goddesses is, well, not quite what anyone was expecting. Ah! My Goddess!! is one of the most revered anime series available, for numerous reasons. The most important of these reasons being that the three girls in the series, Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld, are all archetypes of the types of women guys are attracted to. Hence, many a late-night discussion over "which Goddess is the best" has been spawned, and a legion of fanboys has popped up for the series. The original Ah! Megami-sama!! OVA was intensely serious and only occasionally comical; perhaps they were going for the exact opposite with this series.
Running as a part of Anime Complex, an anime anthology show, Adventures of the Mini-Goddesses episodes are only 5 minutes long. Each episode follows Urd and Skuld and their Looney-Tunes-esque adventures with Ra-chan the rat, voiced by Mitsuo Iwata of Golden Boy fame. The most striking thing about this series is the fact that essentially, every episode is 5 minutes of predictable sight gags. You half expect Wile E. Coyote to show up, since Ra-chan has been beaten, smashed, disintegrated and blown up in nearly every way that that venerable old Warner Brothers character has. Urd and Skuld simply provide ways for Ra-chan to get pummeled. Naturally, this gets old after a while, and you wonder where Belldandy is (her voice actress was far too busy to partake in this silly series) and why they decided to go with raw visual humor rather than typical Ah! Megami-sama!! relationship-style humor. It's a bit frustrating, although for about 10 episodes, it's cute enough to hold your attention. I wouldn't recommend Adventures of the Mini-Goddesses to anyone except hardcore Ah! Megami-Sama!! fans and otaku who miss the glory days of Warner Brothers. Everyone else should just watch the original OVA series.
so, do you guys agree on this? is that a bad review? cuz im going to email him to complain on how bad he does his reviews.
