Monev the Gale created by Kaiyado.....Picked up this bad boy at Otakon, thought I'd give a review of it...first off, it's totally bitchin...one of the coolest pieces I own, the amount to detail easily tops any McFarlane figure but still maintains all of the articulation (Joint movements) that we've come to expect from a Kaiyado figure...even the machine guns on his arms spin freely like they would in real life...I showed it to my dad and he actually thought there were metal pieces on the figure.
However, I have a FEW issues with this most bitchin collectible....first off, while the level of detail is absolutly insane, the Monev the Gale figure doesn't match any of the other Trigun figures! While the size and scale match, there is almost TOO much detail and it dwarfs both Vash and Wolfwood...I was also a little disapointed with the lack of accesories that normally accompanies most Kaiyado figures....unlike Vash, Wolfwood or any of the Eva figures, Monev the Gale comes with NO accesorries other than the chain of bullets linked from his back to his forearms....of course, this character did only appear in ONE Trigun episode so he was limited there to begin with. I also have a gripe with the bullet strings which required tedious assembly and are VERY difficult to keep attached to the arm and turrents mounted on the figures back.
A few improvements over past figures has also occured, most articulation points have been reinforced and are all hidden...the joints feel strong and connected unlike previous figures (Wolfwood whose arm wont hold up under the weight of is cross) and the figures overall balance has improved......
On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this figure a 9 and is the most impressive piece I own...
Articulation points:
- Head (From Base of neck)
- Shoulders (From connection to shoulders [Vertical movement] and back muscles [horizontal movement])
- Gun turrents (On back)
- Upper arms (From shoulders)
- Forearms (Hard to find...be careful twisting them for first time)
- Machine guns (On arms)
- Wrists
- Fingers (Thumb, fore finger and grouping of other fingers move indepently)
- Chest (Pivots on top of waist)
- Waist (Pivots from hips)
- Legs (Pivot from hips)
- Left leg (Seperate point from mid thigh)
- Knees
- Feet
Accesories:
- Small stand for figures right foot (Does NOT help stability much)
- Bullet chains (Each bullet must be placed on springs individually...about 50 bullets in all, 25 on each spring)
- Shrapnel (For foot stand)
