New voices for the characters!?

As I'm sure you've all heard, Pioneer is going to be releasing the Oh my Goddess! movie and the Mini-Goddess series on DVD later this year and next spring. Well...did you know that they're going to hire new actors and actresses for their dubbed version? Look at this email I got from Pioneer the other day:

"Hello. The AMG movie will be released in November, and the series will be released next year. The voice cast will not be the one from AnimEigo, because Pioneer needs to make its own name with AMG. There are several reasons why our
producers decided to do this. The anime business is becoming increasingly more popular and competitive. Pioneer wants to establish its own relationship with AMG, and not be seen as releasing a title that was once owned by another company."

What do you guys think!? I'm gonna miss the awesome duo of Juliet Cesario and Scott Simpson, plus Urd's voice was so good too... >_< I know! Let's start a petition for the old voices! ^_^

Personally I think it sucks that they wanna change the voices...
I've gotten used to AnimeEigo's and AnimeEigo's were good too.

I think it's an idiotic move to change the voices like that. Hell, even Manga is using the original voice actors for the NGE movies to keep everything together. Who cares about making a name for yourself? This will only get people mad at Pioneer (unless that's what they mean :sweatdrop )...especially since the original actors are quite good.

Boo! Pioneer! (Though I'm very glad you didn't use the orignal actors for Akira - that was a good move :heh: )

Heh heh...well, I don't have a petition started, I was hoping someone else would start one...you see, I don't have a website or anything...:heh: But if anyone DOES start a petition, let me know, because I'd join in right away! I just wanted to throw the idea out there.

I really liked the original OMG dub.........especially Keiichi's voice.........but I don't really mind if Pioneer dubs it, because Pioneer usually uses Animaze for their dubbing, which is far and away the best anime dubbing studio. The voices will most likely be in character as much as humanely possible.

In a best case scenario, they would keep the same dub cast but..........I think the huge delay in the release of the Eva movies had to do with getting the original voice cast re-assembled!

I forgot the name of Urd's dub voice actress, but she got the voice down pat. I was surprised when I heard the original's voice--the dub voice sounds so much alike! I think Pioneer would be making a mistake in hiring new voice actors, but then again we never know. I think we've grown accustomed to the dub voice artists, since they've done a pretty good job at it.
