I was thinking about that too, i'm sure it has a very important part later in the series, wouldn't be surprised if it was to help terraform a planet.

Yeah, after all,Meia's Oma and Fama were great scientists, maybe that was the fruit of their research

i'm sure thats their fruit of their labor, my guess is meia will eventually stop flying and continue where her mother left off.

If Meia did not have such natural intelligence to begin with, she would not have made it to squadron leader so quickly, and at such a young age.

I'm expecting her character to evolve alot, in the next two episodes, 7-8 will be Meia episodes, so its a wait and see, where Gonzo will take her character.

Episode 7 is still an Hibiki love triangle story, Meia has like a 10 sec speech in it, not much of a Meia special is it? I can guess that episode 8 is probably gonna be about Barnette new function, so no Meia special either.

nope, episode 8 will be Meia surprise birthday party, and 8 be another meia character builder episode, from what i'm told by my friend.

Thank goodness, I thought Meia is going to be relegated to a support cast member in favor of that ignoramus Dita!! :)

you, me and many meia fans, were worried, Vandread quite honestly has only a few intrigueing characters with substance, Meia, and Hibiki, if it wasn't for meia I wouldn't be watching this show, i definitely wouldn't be watching it to see ignoramous Dita. Meia will get her screentime, it would be dumb of Gonzo to relegate Meia role to a supporting character, when she's the most popular and compelling to watch. Then again we'll have to wait and see, how closely they follow the novels of Vandread in the upcoming episodes.

Whoa!! When you say "novel" you mean the "literary' type like Lodoss was or the Graphic Type (like DBZ)?
It was also so cool that Bart of all people gets to have a 180 degree turn in personality and grow in character, is it not? :)

litarary novel i believe, i haven't read it myself, a member on the Vandread mailing list, went to the official vandread website Message board, and read some post from Vandread fan in japan talking about the novel.
Bart character turn was good for the show.

Bart's antics can more often than not rival Dita's in the sheer ability of causing exasperation. But now that he is a cool dude, good for him!! :)
