Akira one of my all time favourite I have it on tape but also want to get the DVD.

So i went to www.amazon.com
Had a look around at the special edition and then the original both on DVD.

Read what it siad about them but soon discovered that the AKIRA special edition was rated R and that the Original was rated PG.

Has amazon just stuffed this up or does the special edtion have more violence or what ever.

Heres what im talking about check out the links.

The original is rated R, just like the special edition. It says so in the link you provided.

Hmm..., thats' weird..., when I looked at this thread this morning..., the original DVD was rated PG-13..., now it's rated as an R..., Amazon probably realised they had made a mistake...,

There's nothing different, the BBCF is just weird. Macross 2 is rated 15 on VHS but on DVD is rated PG? I guess different censors have different tastes....

I used to judge anime by it's high ratings, I used to just by anime that was 15 or over because i thought all anime under 15(15 is R in American translation)was stupid and childish, but when I saw Nadesico I changed my mind.:)

Ok so it was just a mistake by Amazon.

Amazon isn't the best with anime and such... :heh:

Are you going to buy it from there or are you where you just looking around?

it was just a mistake cause the only difference is the extras. I wouldn't recommend the Special Edition, my friend bought it and you do not get that much more to warrent the 15-20 dollar mark up. Also get it from Buy.com, they have much better service then Amazon does, trust me thats where I get all my stuff from.

Yerh im going to buy it when I finally get my DVD.
I was just having a look around to see prices and what ever else.

Just another point that id like to bring up why did SBS rate Akira M are SBS just stupid or did they take bits out.

I wouldn't really count on it being anything special Ben... Just a bit better quality than you have now and an interactive screen :p

The rating for AKIRA has always been an M15+ in Australia (I remember cause I saw it when I was 13 :D ) and there would have been noway in hell I would have been let into an R rated film in the cinemas (and I remember the posters too).

Does anyone know if there is a Directors Cut version? Because I just got the R1 Special Edition one and it doesn't have any new footage (that I have found anyway) but the posters advertising it in Australia (at JBs) has directors cut all over it (???).

I'd be pissed if that was the case cause I'd have to get another one -_-;;

I'll second that.... though I'd say that the advertising is probably referring to the spades of special features (i.e. interviews, etc) rather than any additional footage......

I hope, anyway...
