How odd, I seem to have seen Digicharat *grin*
My current favourite series. Funny as. Puchiko is the new Rei :B:
Must get off my butt and sub the next 8 episodes, but Real Life (TM) keeps on interfering :P
I bought myself a set of rather cool nicely detailed Digicharat figurines on my most recent restocking trip, which is yet another one of those items that will never make it to the shop ^^;
Who was the generous person who gave you the tape?
I have no idea....I was one of the few people who openly admitted to likeing it after it was screened at a local anime club, so I suspect it was one of my fellow members...But, I guess I'll never know :D
I'm certainly not complaining......

Curiouser and curiouser...
No one ever gives me anime :P
Poor baby :lol: Lets swap lives, you can have my meagre anime collection and I'll take your anime store and all your merchandise :D
Is a music box that plays Cruel Angels Thesis worth $70...hmmmmm
If I was to order an anime keyring from Tamarket, does that mean I can also order fansubs not on the current months list? ;)

Yes, you can, but you'll be labelled a cheap bastard and I will curse your name quietly :B:
On the other hand, if you buy the Cruel Angel's Thesis musicbox you can have whatever fansubs you want and I will personally sacrifice a hamster to the god of your choice :B:
Don't mind me, it's 3am in the morning and I've just tried to sub an episode of inital D three times, each time with the last sub not appearing :P Gah!
well ive sort of seen the first ep of initial d,
though to my surprise i was a little confused when i found i was unable to read chinese subtitles,
is it any good?

The artwork is crappy and the story is predictable, but it is surprisingly addictive ^^; And having had a night's sleep, I am going to try to sub this damn ep for the fourth time *crosses fingers*
So if I order the music box, I can also order the entire list of fansubs? ;)
What would the post man think :lol:

You can only order three fansubs but I will provide you with an infinite number of hamsters (giving you a breeding pair should do it) :B:
Goddamn finally managed to finish the Initial D...and in a spurt of efficiency, I subbed the rest of digicharat too :B:
Good on you :D What do you use to fansub?

I use the "el cheapo" fansubbing method.(TM) :B:
DVD drive, SubStation Alpha/SubStation C, TV out video card (voodoo 3500 up til yesterday, I just installed a new Leadtek GeForce 2 GTS which is meant to have better tv out res, haven't tested it out yet), about 100m of video cabling :P and a couple of Panasonic Hifi vcrs.
The quality of the subs is apparently not as good as a genlock, but on the other hand I didn't have to pay $900 ^^; I think the quality is more than adequate for watching...after all, it is a fansub, if you want professional quality you should wait for a commercial release.
There are so few fansubbers in Australia who actually produce anything regularly anyway, so I suppose beggars can't be choosers :)
hmm....It seems I have everything a fansubber needs except for a Genlock, and no one in SA seems to know what it is or where to get one :(

Well, you don't need a genlock with this method, you just need a good video card. You can even do SVHS if you have a good enough video card and a SVHS vcr. With my method my main expenses are the costs of translation ($_$) and vcr upkeep.
Genlocks are a bit difficult to come by since they're pretty much only used by fansubbers these days, I'm not actually sure why else you would want to spend $900 on one ^^; Hazer from AJAS has a genlock, but he only subs once in a blue moon and then it's stuff that's already available, which seems like a bit of a waste of effort to me.
Oh, you forgot to mention, the other thing a fansubber needs is endless patience and a lot of spare time (and preferabl no life) ^^;
I just recieved an e-mail from my mysterious anime donator...Her name seems to be Selah Cawley...Ring any bells?

Yeah the name is familiar...didn't she like Digicharat?
Guess not, but her loss is my gain :lol:
If it's not too much trouble, could you give me instruction in the "el cheapo" fansubbing method.(TM)? Or, any URLs to where I can find such instructions? If you could, I would be eternally greatful and will buy all my anime merchandise through you and encourage all my friends to do the same (though most of them already do :lol:)

I believe Tesai has posted my subbing method somewhere on his site (http://animeguide.cyril.com).
However, if you're just going to watch the vcd for your own pleasure, I would recommend you skip the whole outing to tv part and just watch it on your pooter with substation C for the subs. Most of the hassle comes from the outing to tv/vhs bit, because it means you have to be precise with the timing, make sure your mouse cursor isn't on the screen, and a million other little things. If you just watch it on your pooter it's nice and stress-free.
Meanwhile, my new videocard is giving me the shits, for some reason it's only outing in black and white...gah. Very annoying since I want to sub another ep of Blue Gender, plus I just got a whole lot of Love Hina I want to out to tape. Anyone else got a leadtek winfast Geforce 2 GTS and want to give me some tips? :P
Thanks, I appretiate it :D
