My dad was looking through some of my CDs and when he saw "Nadesico: Prince of Darkness" he asked if I was some kind of devil worshipper now or something... I explained to him that the Nadesico movie has absolutely nothing to do with my dark overlord master Satan...

But it made me think, why the heck did they choose the name "Prince of Darkness" as the title? Was it some screw up in the translation? Or was there some sort of symbolism I missed somewhere? Or is the production company that made it just a bunch of Satan worshippers?

I just think there's enough religious nuts going after anime without us having to fuel their fire with stupid titles like that...

I do not have a response to your question, but I do have a question of my own. Where did you get a copy of Prince of Darkness. I am a new Nadesico fan, and I don't have the knowledge of anime resources I would like to have.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I know exactly what it means

Careful not to read this unless you've seen the movie, or dont mind a spoiler.

Unlike the series, the movie puts the crew of the Nadesico in a very unhappy future. Akito and Yurika are thought dead (killed in a shuttle accident while heading off to their honeymoon).

Akito, instead having been abducted and experimented on, no longer feels the "Burning heart of justice" that once drove his actions in the series. Instead, he is driven to find his beloved wife, and rescue her from her abductors.

"Prince of Darkness" referrs to akito's role in the movie. He plays the charming prince, plunged into a life of darkness. Yurika plays the role of the "Sleeping Beauty"...literally.

I've said enough, but listen up. I have more to show you
