Ayashi no Ceres, what's it about?

I know the creater did Fushigi Yuugi, but what's the story about? I want to look into it, but I look before I leap

well basically the story is about Aya a regular highschool student.. who on her 16th birthday.. finds out that she is a direct descendent of a tennyo Ceres. and she can transform into Ceres.. and her family keeps trying to kill her.. when her twim brother Aki is the descendent of Ceres' husband Shiso.. and Aya can transform into ceres....

and there is this guy Toya and he hired by Aya's family the Mikage to protect Aki(aya's brother) from Aya.. but leave to watase to create alove story. you can tell from the first couple of eposodes that toya and aya are gonna get together.. but there is also Suzumi (another woman woith tennyo blood) and her brother yuuhi who protect aya and whenever aya transforms into ceres the only way for her to turn bak intoaya again is for yuuhi to kiss her...

and then the mikage.. have the C-genome progect.. which i can't really remember what it consists of.. but it has all these woman who have tennyo blood are imprixoned and tested my the mikage..
and i don;'t want to give away anymore...
but i read al the mangas and have seen some of the anime and hope to see the reat..
but if you liked FY you will definatly like this one.. it's alot darker then FY it doesn't have all the comedy relief but it is a really good story.. so you migh thave to watch it cause i am kinda bad at explaining.. or you should go to

How about this... Aya and Aki are twins. The story begins on their 16th birthday. They were supposed to celebrate it in a karaoke, but their parents forced them to go to their grandpa's house, telling that HE will do a party for them. Their parents are acting strange and all, you see what I mean. And there, the strange things begins~~

Ayashi no Ceres is a dark and drama series... Based on the legend of a farie and her haragomo... Well anyway, Touya, Aki and Yuuhi have kickass scenes sometimes, there's special powers and all that stuff. Anyway, of course, I recommand it. ^^

Ceres has no meaning. It's the noun of a char, the Tennyo (translated to farie, something like that... ^^; ).

Ayashi no Ceres

Another work by the legendary woman who gave us Fushigi Yuugi, Watase Yuu-sensei.

The name, Aya, is a pun used in the title itself.

I'm sure everyone is aware of the legendary Tannyo and her hagaromo.

Story telling ahead!
Many centuries ago, a tennyo arrived on earth to bathe in its wonderous and exotic lakes.
A lonely fisherman sees a tennyo, bathing in a lake alone. He hides behind the bushes and notices a hagaromo (it's like a robe) on one of the branches. He took the hagaromo and hides it from the tennyo.
After she finishes her bathing, she couldn't be able to find her robe. So she asked the lonely fisherman if he had seen it. The fisherman, pretending to be unaware of the hagaromo's wearabouts said that he haven't seen it. The tennyo couldn't make it back to heaven so the fisherman marries her and afterwards given birth to beautiful baby.
But what the husband didn't know is the baby's ability to locate the robe. When the baby is alone with her mother, it sang a song which actually locates her hagaromo. Finding her robe, she ascended into heaven, leaving behind both her husband and child.

Now THAT's the legend of the tennyo

Now back to the emphasis of the series! :D

Aya and her twin brother, Aki celebrating their 16th birthday, unaware of the mysterious destiny that awaits them at the family reunion.

All I can say its VERY dark with the humor a la Watase style. So I'm not going to say too much on this.

The funny thing is, I remember being told that story in Korean when I was a wee lad...but I SWEAR it ended much more happily...like this girl doesn't come back for her silly hagoromo and stuff like that. Tennyo's are so silly sometimes...

PS, the manga is better...as always =P
