The two "parts" are Ranma Nibun no ichi and Ranma Nettouhen. I think the English dub has put names to the parts they translate, I think they have like 5 seasons dubbed already?? Anyway, there are lots of eps, I still haven't found out how many exactly, and still haven't been able to see the end :(
And there are lots of Ranma sites, but none are really great with info & stuff.

golly..I only seen that one with the mood brooch thingy. where shampoo gets mega mad at Ranma cause she has it upside down. so I got a few questions (I can't get Ranma from the local vid store)

Why does moose turn into a bird? is that from water? if so how'd he have that bath with Ranma and not transform?
Why does Ranma turn into a red haired girl when he gets wet? wtf is up with that?
Why can the panda bear be human but turn back into a panda when it gets wet?
What's up with the blue light around the chicks when they get mad?

Also a question about japan itself, are it's school uniforms primarily like the ones found in Evangelion and Ramna? And them background cicadas or whatever are also in both..

Gendo Saotome (Ranma's father, brought him to
Jusenkyo, a place full of enchanted pools of water, located
in China.
In every pool of Jusenkyo someone/thing died, and everyone
that falls into the water, turns into what falled there.
As Ranma and Gendo where training, Gendo fell, and turned
into Panda, when he attacks Ranma (Gendo was still training)
Ranma gets nervous as he sees that BIG panda and falls too.
After that they discover that they turn into whatever they
falled into when the get wet with cold water, and turn
back to human with hot water.


Ryouga was following Ranma, because when they were at
school he defied Ranma. Ranma waited for Ryouga to fight
for 3 days and left. Then Ryouga arrived.
As he was following Ranma, he just arrived when Gendo/Panda
was chasing Ranma-chan (girl). Ranma pushed Ryouga without noticing and he fell into another pool (turning into a black
piggy).

On the way back to Japan, Ranma and Gendo were starving
and arrived a village of Amazons. There was a contest where
Shampoo was fighting (and winning). The sitted to watch, and
meanwhile started to eat some food that was on a table.

As all the amazons noticed that they were eating the first
prize of the contest (all the food) they wanted to kill them. But Ranma-chan said that if he(she)'d beaten
Shampoo, that would be HIS(her) prize.

They fought and Ranma won, then Shampoo gave him the kiss
of death. Meaning that she would track him-her- to kill
him-her- because of a law in her village.

She and her grandmother when to Jusenkyo to train, and Shampoo fell to the water, turning into a kitty.
Moose (who's in love with Shampoo) was following her and
fell to another pool (turning into a Goose).

When Shampoo finds Ranma in Japan, she tries to kill
Ranma-chan until he reveals that he's not really a girl,
that he's a guy that turns into a chick. Then (by law)
Shampoo has to marry Ranma, because she's been beaten
by a man.

About the blue light, is just a visual efect!!!
did you saw the spark on Misato (on Evangelion) when
Ritsuko is on the elevator on the first episode?
Or in other episode, when she's teasing Shinji because
he takes all so seriously (when Ritsuko asks him to give
Rei her id pass), and Ritsuko says that Misato does too.

Maybe there's plenty of cicadas in Japan.
About the uniforms, maybe japanese man REALLY like
young little babes in that kind of Uniform :)~~~~~.

well... i don't know if japanese found that odd...
i know I didn't (hey! it's a manga/anime, for christ's sake!)

And Ranma 1/2 is not intended to be an anime of deep things
such as Lain or Evangelion nor a really well mixed up thing
as would be Perlfect Blue or something.
It's just all about irony, humor, confusion, and some romance.

If you'd like a piece of advice: don't see the anime unless you're
reading the manga and want to follow the story.

The anime is REALLY bad, and it's FULL of made up stuff.
The manga is about 80 eps long... the anime is about 300.
and the end of the manga has not been made on anime!!!
Rumiko Takahashi (the writer) wanted the end to be only
available on paper. So grab your calculator and tell me
how much of the anime is REALLY ranma.

it's all made up by the tv, and has lots of stories that are really
BAD.

On the other hand, the manga is excellent. and it really worths it.

There's an end? wow. and ken... yeah, that is weird... but those Japanese for you. Yes, it is a duck... a duck is funnier than a goose. What I like to do is go around to all the video shops in Perth, and see if I can find anime... signing up is free, after all...

I believe there are 5 seasons so far. Also they will not be done translating Ranma 1/2 until late 2004!!:lol:

THe anime is very different here are some facts i know:

Ranma hates cats (Shampoo turns into a cat)
Akane, Ukyo, Kodachi, and Shampoo are Ranma's Fiances.
Mousse turns into a duck
Ryoga turns into a pig(that only Ranma knows is Ryouga)
Kodachi is the voice of Asuka(evangelion)

Ok, I have to correct this, because it just bugs me:
Akane is Ranma's Fiancee because their fathers decided this before their birth.

Ukyo is Ranma's "fiancee" because Ranma's father promised Ukyo's father when the kids were about 5. Ranma's dad then stole Ukyo's father's business and ditched Ukyo.

Kodachi IS NOT ranma's fiancee. She just thinks she is. He hates her. He never agreed to be her fiancee, and nobody's parents amde an agreement here either.

Shampoo is also not Ranma's fiancee. In her culture, if a woman is beaten by a man in combat, she must marry him. Ranma did not know this at the time so he never agreed to it. She calls him fiancee and so does Cologne because from their standpoint he should marry her, but Ranma never agreed to this.

So the only two that may have legitimate claims here are Ukyo and Akane, however, Akane was promised first. And anyway, their parents decided all this junk, which is why they pretend they don't like eachother (even thoug they are obviously in love.)

So that's my 2 cents on the whole Fiancee thing. :D

dudes, if you can't read jap and want to read all the manga in english, go to the ranma scan project. that has all the manga (starting from 17 to the end) translated into english. you get to find out all sorts of wonderful things.

yah, the anime only went up to nadoka or something? that pisses me off. and the ending for the manga ... THAT AIN'T AN ENDING!

Well, I used to think Ukyou was promised first, but, now that I think about it, I guess Akane was promised first (even though a fiance from Soun's three daughters hadn't been picked since Ranma was just a kid at the time).

And the anime ended way beforethe manga, that's why the endindgs don't match. ^_^

the anime didn't end way before the manga, and it ended when it ended because Rumiko Takahashi didn't want the end to be seen on TV, she wanted to be available only in manga... that's why anime doesn't really have an end... although it's very near the end when Ranma's mother appears. (last 2 eps)

Just to clear up a query from a few posts back, that blue haze surrounding characters sometimes is their battle Aura. Its not just blue but can be red (Cologne), Yellow (Kieren, Genma) green (Girl type Ranma, in the OAV) or Blue (Akane, Shampoo, Mousse, Ranma and Happousai) It usually appears when they get really serious when fighting and are about to pull off a special attack
