1). Why is NERV written in English when the Anime is Japanese so the Japanese can't read it???

nerv is german for nerve
seele is german for soul
gehirn is german for brain

the is a *lot* of english in nge, and japan in general. it's used all over the place. they are all taught english in school, but due to a shoddy education system, can't use it too well...

notice in the eoe credits that gainax used an "english adviser" :)

Eva is short for evangelion; which (to me) sounds very similar to evangelize. Evangelize means inducting into or bringing inot; usually in religious circumstances. Just thought I'd say that.

perhaps you should also ask why Evangelion is full of X'tian/Jewish symbolism when Japanese are hardly X'tian!
