View Full Version : X Series
I've seen some Japanese trailors for a series based on the movie X. Does anyone know anything about it? I would especially like to know when it takes place, at the end of the movie everyone is dead, friend and foe alike. This would leave very little for a series to pick up on.

It's based on the as of yet 16 vols. long and counting manga. An OVA has been made and from what I heard it's something of a prequel to the TV series. The movie did not follow the manga hardly at all, but the TV series is supposedly going to be pretty close to manga continuity.
So really, it's not based on movie continuity whatsoever.
snowcherry said it all...
all i can give you is when and who will broadcast X series...
X series will be broadcasted by WOWOW every wednesday starting Oct. 31 around 6:30 pm (jap. time)

Until we get a CLAMP forum, I'm going to unleash my X-related ranting wherever I get a chance :D So here we go.
[Possible mild spoilers for the manga]
I'm curious as to whether Yuuto is going to start being an important character soon (betray the Chi no Ryuu?) or if CLAMP just likes to draw pretty blonde playboys. He's in front in a lot of the pictures, and his tarot card (the Devil) would lead one to believe he played a somewhat more important role in the impending apocalpyse. Right now, I'm beginning to think it's just that Apapa Mokona has a crush on him. Not that I can really blame her.
I'm also curious about Seiichirou. Now, I may be the only person on Earth who feels this way, but damnit, I like the guy (nerd that he is). Is he (along with Karen, another underrated favorite character of mine) going to be cast to the sidelines for most of the TV series, or is he going to actually receive some development? I certainly hope for the latter. I'd like to see something come of his relationship with Karen, something more than his current awkward affection for her. They're a cute couple, and I don't give a damn if he has a wife :p
(Incidentally, or maybe not so incidentally, I took a "Who's the perfect CLAMP man for you?" quiz recently, and Seiichirou was my top result o_o;; Erm, but he's so nerdy...)
Oh yeah, final topic: Subaru and Seishirou. These two had better receive the same treatment in the TV series as they have in the manga. Especially the events of vol. 16. That scene was so sad and heartbreaking (*snort* bad unintentional pun, sorry)---if it's changed greatly, I will be very upset. Particularly the "I...you..." line. That's got to stay. Hear me, TV producer-people. IT MUST STAY.
So uh...any other opinions? :heh:
EDIT: Forgot to specify that I meant the -TV- series when referring to Seiichirou, not the manga series ^^;;
Where can I get the manga?

Depends on where you live. The first 6 or 7 volumes have been translated by Viz, and those would be at bookstores, anime stores, whereever one finds manga. I buy mine untranslated at our local Kinokuniya (Japanese bookstore chain) and just work off the little Japanese I do know and fan translations. Also, AnimeNation carries the manga as well, if you do the online shopping thing.
The OVA is downloading right now, chugging along at like 2.5 k/s -_-;; Freaking 191MB file...ergh.
Can you tell yet that I'm kind of obsessed with this series? :sweatdrop
O_O
that's what i call a rant...
lol snowcherry i feel your pain
mines at 41% 56/131 meg done at 2.06 k/b
oh well we will eventually get it.

:bawling: The file won't resume! ACK!
Guess I'll just have to buy the fansub then. Oh well, that way I get the bonus interviews as well, AND the Saiyuki OVA on the same tape. *_*

I dont know about all of you...but as for me....I have the X movie...and although its beautifully done and all....I think I could have gotten a better plotline off of the back of a crackerjack box....I see a LOT of poetential for a good anime..but as for the movie it sucked and I will think twice before buying anything else with the "X" nametag on it.

Believe me, the movie -did- suck. It's nothing like the manga, really. The mind boggles at the logic behind trying to cram 10+ volumes of manga (16 as of right now) and 14 or so important characters into a 90 minute movie. Supposedly, the TV series is going to take some time on each character so that we actually see some development, as opposed to the movie's apparent policy of "no character may appear on screen for more than 3 minutes total".
