Gasaraki.....what's it about?

I recently saw previews for this on the second DVD of NGE. It looked very interesting, and I'm seriously thinking about getting it. Unfourtanetly, I have yet to get my hands on a copy. Can someone tell me what it's about? I really couldn't get anything about the plot from the previews, but I'd really like to know. Thanks to those who help.

I really, really, really want to get this series, too. Is there any news on a boxset, though? Does anyone seriously think one will ever be released? And should I even bother waiting anyway or is the show good enough to just get the DVDs now?

ADV doesn't seem to like box sets much. Once all the discs are released, some retaliers might start selling them all as part of a bundle, but I doubt we'll ever see an official box set. Project Akira got it right about the plot, but the damn thing is so complex that that description really only covers the first two discs, maybe. If you want more details, then half the threads in this forum all start with the same questions you have. Overall, not a good anime for speed freaks, but if you appreciate realistic, detailed mecha and a meaty, obtuse plot, then give it a whirl.

http://www.animeondvd.com should have a variety of viewpoints. Ignoring the quality of the series itself, the DVDs are really nice. Lots of extras.
