well i got it on video and i dont get the ending? well i havent watched it for about 2 years so i cant remember

Jeez, its been a long time since I saw it. SBS should air it again. All I remember is that the guys shot Tetsuo with the laser satelitte, severed Tetsuo's arm, he then destroyed it [the best bit in the movie IMO], then he became that fat expanding blob then the screen goes black with a white dot with the voice saying "I am Tetsuo." Can't remember anything after. Seen it twice and I was still going "wtf" the second time. But still v. good animation

OK I'll explain the fat exploding blob bit.

Essentially Tetsuo was gaining power too fast for him or his body to control. Also remember the guy needed drugs that the government provided to control his power. Since his powers were growing exponentially, Tetsuo's body had to grow to control the growing power inside of him. Hence why he became the big blob.

Tetsuo could not control his power anymore so, the psycho kids asked Akira to come back and take Tetsuo with him to a higher plane of existence so Tetsuo would not endanger anymore lives. Like all other animes the ending just beg for a new beginning, new story, new movie, new serie etcetera.

Actually, that's the point of the ending to Akira that everyone got a new beginning; Tetsuo, Kaneda and Kei, the little friend of Kaneda, and even the Colonel. Everyone got a second chance to start things in life.

so thats wats with the ending are they the only 1's that survived?

But Tokyo sure had the crap kicked out of it. :)
