I've just seen Nadesico's last episode and what a pile of ----! It's creators must have lost the will to live or something.

There were so many things that ruined it for me...Like in Volume3 where the old Admiral committed suicide and made his death speech...it was done so deeply and moving...It was a fine piece of anime that showed how death is permanent just like real life. And then he comes back from the grave as a hippy And totally spoils the whole thing! And for what?? To say one line that did'nt change anything! It's like Romeo and Juliet coming back to life and Living in happiness, some storylines just NEED tragic deaths.

And Akito Boson jumping without CC's anywhere was just taking the ----. plus why was Akito nearly killing Akatski one minute. And then being best mates with him the next without even saying. "well let's forget anbout it?" It truly was the worst anime epoisde ever!

Yes the final episode(s) were hurried and I think it should have been extended for another 5 episodes. All your questions can be answered with a couple of watchings,it just goes by in such a blur, sometimes you miss things.

And Akito Boson jumping without CC's anywhere was just taking the ----.

Very close to the end of the next-to-last episode you learn that just being close to the Martian ruins is enough to Boson jump.

The CCs are like relays, but aren't necessary when you're so close to the 'generator'.

The ending sucked? Nah, it was decent. The ending to the movie SUCKED ASS! It's like they said... know what... this movie needs to be x minutes long, and they were x-3 minutes away from the end with about 20 more minutes of animation to go. They just squeezed it in and threw in a nonsensical ending.

(note: this is an old thread and i don't know if you've changed your opions but...)
ugh... look, if Nadesico was as clear-cut and simple as you'd like it to be, then it would suck. "tragic" death scenes and stuff are getting really old in anime now, so they wen't with an ending not so generic.
and if you still don't change your mind...
"can't you just shut up and enjoy it for what it is!?" -Gai Daighoji :D

Hey, I liked the ending of Nedesico. Yeah some of it's a little Stupid, but maybe you should have done what Akito did with Gekigengar. Just not watch the final episode. Akito said it quite a few times throughout the series that he didn't want to watch the last one, Maybe their was a message there.

Yeah, didn't Akito say it totally sucked  Oh the irony! But I liked the ending. Its nice to see a happy - no strings attached - ending finally!. I agree with the Admiral bit. He died early, so most of us [well I did] forgot about him and hence any real attachment to him, so I when he returned, I was like "eh".

Toward the end, one of the things I was struggling with was telling whether it was being serious or slapstick? [Not really correct word choice, but I like the alliteration :D] At times of tension, you just think to yourself that they'll do something stupid and hilarious any moment, and then they don't. But I think they handled the balance between the both much better than other anime comedies, which deserves commendation. I might watch the movie tomorrow if I have time. *wipes tear* Dammit, why do I always get mushy when I finish an anime series I get attached to!

Edit: Okay, I just saw the movie. It seemed a little too short...Does it start with a girl named Haley attempting a boson jump?

OMG, I could have sworn Haley looked like a girl in that scene :heh:

I still want to know what that plate is that the girl gave to Ines.

i sense some movie spoilers coming up, please warn me before you do :)
that plate... i bet it has something to do with the "ancients" telling her about the boson jumping technology being evil, and keeping it hidden from everyone(a bit too late for that though).
actually i never thought of that until i just thought of it on the spot right now. hmmm...

The use of the plate wasnt address in the series, the ova, or the movie. This doesnt mean its use wasnt explained at all. The Nadesico Video games "Blank of three years" and "Nadesico: The Mission", did advance the story along in its own little way.

here's a little tidbit of information that'll interest you.

In the opening animation to "Nadesico: The Blank of Three years"
There are brief shots of new Astivales models. One was a truck that "transformed" into an astivales...the other was an asti modified for underwater operations.

There...I've gone and said it...

i feel the ending suxs too...
it's too rushed... i've no prob with mr old man coming back to life, but i felt empty after watching the ending... after all the tension/excitement building up in the last few episodes, the ending has to kill it all...
anyway dling the movie now... *brace himself for the movie's ending that's reputed to be even worse than the ending of the serie*

ho no, i'm weird...
i actually stomached the ending of the movie better as compare to the ending of the anime serie  but now i need some sites with extensive information about everything on nadesico to find out what's going on... lots of questions unanswered after viewing the movie. does anyone has any recommendations? i've been to www.peacefuldays.org it's good, but i like to have more information, spoilers and all. thanks a lot in advance.

Okay. Yesterday, after putting it off for so long, I got off my slackarse, went out and brought the final five eps of Nadescio on VHS.

And what did I think?

Yes I do agree that the ending was kinda weak. Satisfactory (with Akito and Yurika getting their act together)? Yes. Satisfying?
No.
Okay, So I chuckled at Akatsuki's revelation (certainly makes a change from the other commanders who, instead of being where the action is, sit behind desks and give orders - Like Gendo Ikari); so I loved that ep where the crew take back the Nadesico in the greatest display of camadeire (Even as I watched, I could feel my heartstrings being pulled - There. I've said it. I'm not ashamed); So I also loved Ruri's memories speech.
But.....
.....None of the above couldn't hide the hollow feelings I felt at the series conclusion.

You can tell the mkaers were setting the foundations for further adventures (And I, after grown so attached to the characters, would certainly like to see the Nadesico crew back in action). Yet Prince of Darkness only brought up more questions then answering the one already raised. If there is another instalment in the Nadesico saga (which there undoubtably will) I just pray that Tatsuto Sato doesn't do a George Lucas (Now I don't have anything against George Lucas it's just that, judging by the rushes of Episode II, he obviously didn't listen to the complaints of people who thought the Phantom Menace was crap).

As for the Admiral's reappearance, well one thing I loved about Nadesico are the parallels between the events on the ship and the events on Gekiganger! Come on, couldn't you all see the funny side of it all?!? If you don't like to laugh then Nadesico probably wasn't for you in the first place.

Heh... maybe when Gai was talking to Akito in episode 3 about how many episodes Gekiganger had he was trying to make a point.

Akito thought it was a complete series at 26 episodes, and Gai tells him that there was actually a third series shown at a different timeslot.

Nadesico might need another 13 eps to explain itself...
