Dammit im confused. I loved this series. was enthralled. It is easily one of my favs.

Why aren't i talking about it more? where are the discussions?

I'm going to try and run through the series again at first chance (hell im gonna start today for a bit) just because I know there has to be something more to the century slayer... There has TO! I'm hopin that anyone who can will do the same, I know that the combined efforts of some of the great minds here can help enlighten each other... There must be something !
I'ma tinker, me wanna tink 'bout it.
but the series was so clear and straight forward...

Ok, here is an intriguing question about the series. Why did Zodd help gutts against Boscgone? What is his motive? or is he simply a pawn for the GodHand?

The problem is that some members are only limited to the anime (myself included) while a few other have read the manga. Some haven't even seen it. I think this series has potential for good discussion, but that can only last for so long.

Oh this one has some very good discussion. Due to the "rarity" (or scarecity) of the mangas being distro on the net and the anime not being as popular as other series on the IRC, not alot of people really got into this. However, it is a very good series with a normal looking guy with one eye swinging a giant sword slab thingy slicing anything in half.

You should read the manga, you will find out that Zodd is a pawn of the Godhand. Since he saw that Gatss destiny is to be betrayed by Gryffit. No Gatts equals no new Godhand. Also in the Manga Zodd is not as much under the influence of the Godhand as you might think.

If that were true then it would make no sense for Zodd to warn Gatts about what was going to happen to him, since that might prevent Gatts from walking down the road. My opinion is Zodd did it out of respect for Gatts, since he considers him to be a great fighter and a worthy challenge. I don't doubt that Zodd being there is following GodHands wishes to protect Griffith, as he does a few times in the manga.

Zodd didn't knew Griffith was gonna be there until he saw the Behelith around Griffith's neck, that is well way after he has given them a good beating.

I was talking about Zodd's other appearance in front of Doldrey castle.

Zodd warened him as a sign of respect but perhaps he did not expect a mere mortal to heed his warning. So although the chance was slim he did the honourable thing and said what he could. Gutts was essentiall motivation for griffith or at least in the anime.

And if anyone really wants to discuss something about Beserk perhaps we need to see Bastard as well ? hmm ?

I think the reason Zodd helped Gatts' against Boscgone( did he really help? All he did was throw Gatts a sword.) is because Zodd wants to be the one to fight and kill Gatts. And in order to get the most out of this, Gatts has to live long enough to be more experienced, or to be at his best. If Gatts loses merely because his sword broke, what's the glory in that for Zodd?

I have a crazier theory: Zodd is Gatz's father.....

We know Zodd has been tromping around Midland and Chuda for 300 years or so... and we only know that Gatz's mother was human. This could help explain why he was still alive when Gambino found him, as well as his incredible strength and endurance.
And they look kinda similar.

(I know, I can see it now... "Join me, and we will rule the God Hand as father and son...")

Of course, that begs the question as to why Zodd didn't know who Gatts was when they faced off for the first time. I would think a being as powerful as Zodd would recognize his offspring, especially one that has created such a name for himself.

Maybe Zods wife ! Yes Gats' mother ! Kept them appart in an atempt to 'save' Gats ! And Zod being the demonic-father figure that he is. Kinda lost track of his son...
