O.K Correct me if I'm wrong;
Shinji's Mother's Soul is in Shinji's Eva,
Auska's Mother's Soul is in Auska's Eva,
That is one of the reasons that they were able to syinronise with there Eva's so well
So how could people like Toji, Kensuke, Hikari and the rest of the class be expected to syinronise with there Eva's, (if they got called up) because I'm pretty sure that all of them wouldn't have dead family members in their Eva's

as a matter of fact, Toji doesnt have a mother, we learn of this in ep 3 when he tells Kensuke that his dad and grand dad were busy in the lab and couldnt watch over his yourger sister. In the ep where Shinji and Kensuke are in the mountians, Kensuke reveals that like Shinji, he also dosnt hav a mother. As for Hikari, in ep 18(?) we learn that she has two sisters whom she cooks for and usually cooks more than they can consume - thus we get the impression that she also doesnt have a mom.

lets take Toji as an example

in ep 18(?) when Gendo asks whether the dummy system will be used for the activation of unit 3, Ritsuko says that the dummy system is still not recommendable however there is a candidate whose core can be easily prepared - the core which is being referred to here is the soul which will be put in an eva, unit 01's core is Yui. 4th child was Toji and Toji dosnt hav a mom.
