WHAT DOES IT MEAN!!
I always supposed that this was at the end of the series because of the fact that you follow Spike and the crew of Bebop throught their whole adventure together and in the end everyone is split up(besides Faye and Jet).

I tend to think that it means that one must understand that each person has responsibilities that cannot be offloaded. That weight, the weight that we fear as we grow up, must not be transferred to others since responsibilities are the duty of the individual. You are gonna carry that weight and be proud you lasted as long as you could.

I think the quote - like so much else in Bebop - is a reference to a song, specifically to the Beatles Golden Slumbers medley at the end of the Abbey Road album.
"Boy you're going to carry that weight a long time..." is the phrase. The medley goes through several phases and ends the album. The last line is
"And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make..."
There might be some connection to the situation.
I always felt that it relates to the characters fate or "Karma". You have to carry the weight of your pasts. That is ultimately what Bebop is about.
See You
