Is it just me or does Gattsu remind anyone of Ninja Master Gara in Bastard!? I aslo noticed a similarity between Gattsu and Orson of Record of Lodoss War... It seems that a lot of these big soldier guys are alike...

I could respond with something that starts with, "obviously, you need a certain bulk to proficient in melee warfare," but that would be lame. So I won't. Especially since I haven't seen Bastard!.

It's the stereotypical fighter/warrior class of character. They survive mostly by their strength and prowess in battle. Since bigger and more refined muscles are stronger, you can expect most stereotypical warriors to have roughly the same build.

Also, since they are named characters in the animes, they have more importance than the cannon fodder that we usually see in anime fight scenes. They have to stand out, so they are visually more impressive.

Or whatever. I just wanted to post in the Berserk forum again. :D

Ehm ... maybe everyone knows this but ..

Beserk was spawned by the same mind that made Bastard! ...

But there's also another stereotypical fighter. The pretty boy quick agile fighter (i.e. Griffith). Every anime needs its Bishy I guess. :o

Its like the character in the red shirt on the old Star Trek. If you have a red shirt, you're dead. So in Anime, if you don't have a name, you're dead. Ahh, the joys of being an extra...
