View Full Version : The Kinomoto Family Tree…

Alright… I know there are so many relations, in-laws and arranged marrages around… But can someone sort out the chaos of it all?
Tomoyo's mum (forgot her name for a while), is cousin of Nadeshiko. They originally have the same surname, but then Tomoyo's mum changed hers to Daidouji. Then she had Tomoyo Daidouji as her daughter.
The old man Sakura met in Ep. 16(?) on holiday is the father of Nadeshiko (and thus is Sakura's grand dad) (or was he nadeshiko's grand father? forgot...). Anyways, he was against the marriage, like the rest of them at first, but now he's ok with it. Now, the woman that we see at the end of that episode...I think it is Nadeshiko's sister? or another cousin??
Anyways, Fujitaka Kinomoto marries Nadeshiko (forgot her surname), and they have Sakura Kinomoto and Touya Kinomoto. Kinomoto (father's side) don't really have much of a family history that is revealed in the series, only Nadeshiko's family is more complicated.
That's about all. So, Sakura and Tomoyo are in actual fact cousins twice removed, or something...
DAH?

I lost you half way… :heh:
I need a diagram…
LOL. When I have time...maybe now...
Its quite a confusing story, Ive had to watch almost all the episodes before it started to make sense. Im not good at explaining things either...
Remember, if you are using IE 6, to click the button to put it back to original size. I had to compress it a bit, so it might be a blurry.

Don't we learn anything about Mr. Kinomoto's family tree? Or is it just that merge area?
i always thought tomoyo's mom and sakura's mom where sisters or cousins...

I like everything you said EXCEPT for one thing... the old man is Nadeshikos' grandfather, not father, and is Sakuras Great Grandfather... I know that in the Anime that Nadeshikos' parents never show up, I can't recall right now wheather or not they show up in the Manga...
okok....I haven't watched that particular episode for some time, so I didn't really remember. Besides, I had already expressed a smidgin of that Grandfather thing in my first post. So just replace the Unknown Grandfather of Nadeshiko with that old man.
"The old man Sakura met in Ep. 16(?) on holiday is the father of Nadeshiko (and thus is Sakura's grand dad) (or was he nadeshiko's grand father? forgot...). "
Black Knight:
What merge area? There is nothing on Fujitaka's family in the series...
Zinder:
They ARE cousins. Nadeshiko's mom/dad was the sister/brother of Sonomi's mom/dad.
"Tomoyo's mum (forgot her name for a while <Edit: Its Sonomi>), is cousin of Nadeshiko. They originally have the same surname, but then Tomoyo's mum changed hers to Daidouji. Then she had Tomoyo Daidouji as her daughter. "
Hope I have explained it good enough...
Yeah, that old man was Nadeshiko's grandfather and hence Tomoyo's and Sakura's great grandfather.

Well, Fujitaka does have his own ancestry, they just don't get into it until later... Oh, but it is important, though. Oh my, yes. Wait and se-e...
Sakura's great grandfather is looking very fit. How old do you think he is? I mean, he's a GREAT grandfather!

Fujitaka's ancestrial stuff is quite important to the ending of CCS...
I didn't see anything about it, although I have watched the whole series. Were their ancestor clow reed or something??

 I take it they never addressed it in the anime then...
I know they address it in the manga, though.

Well I don't know… I know Li was… But as for everyone else… :P Don't have a clue…
Li is a descendent for sure and of course Mei Li cuz she's his cousin and all.
Sakura was just chosen by Keroberos or by shear dumb luck, she had enough magic to be a cardcaptor. I hate for her to be a relative of Clow. That just adds more weirdness to the series.
the connection of Fujitaka Kinimoto to Clow Reed is only explained in CCS manga...
there are two reincarnations of Clow Reed Eriol Hiregasawa - negative reincarnation (according to the manga) Fujitaka Kinimoto - positive reincarnation (according to the manga)
Sigh. Can you say inbreeding?

 Foxxe, please explain a bit.
I'm guessing they left the manga explanation out of the anime cuz it would had caused timing problems Li's ancestry.

can you say "manga plot is a different world from anime plot"???

-_-.....yeah Suzaku is right, so that's why Nadeshiko's family opposed Nadeshiko's marriage to Fujitaka even more because he had no relatives or family appearently. I mean that's what I am puzzled about..was he born through a parents who died? like Mamoru form SM? or is he like Salvia from Wedding peach? who was not reborn on earth like other angels but remained as living angel since the day she was born as an angel.???
and plus they shouldn't have created Li Meiling! Since it was better not to have so called 'cousine' solely created for anime purpose. I just don't like her she ruins the story line at times.
chieri,
The way I see the manga plot and according to Suzaku's explanation, it seems both Li and Sakura's father came from Clow's line. Am correct so far? So if Li and Sakura get together...hmmm. Anyway, they're probably too distant and some laws would actually permit it. Oh well. babbling.
i think you've got it Foxxe...
Fujitaka Kinimoto's bloodline will remain a mystery until Nanase Ohkawa tells us Fujitaka's family bloodline...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they did tell us his ancestry, did they not? It's certainly not a family tree, I grant you, but still... Then again, just because you're someone's reincarnation doesn't mean you're actually related to them by blood. So, no, I guess we don't anything about his family. Even if both Li and Sakura are descendants of Clow Reed, he lived hundreds of years ago and they come from different branches of the family. We're talking like, sixth cousins twice removed. Hardly grounds for incest. Oh well. Tomoyo and Sakura make a better couple anyway.

dryden-san is right, there is no way Sakura could be related incase of her father recieving Clow's soul. As Eriol said to yue when when he asked why did he make him to decide on a new master in vol 12, Eriol said that he may posses Clow's magic and memories but he is not Clow Read. Same applies to Fujitaka so it will not be a blood related and that puzzles me even more. but it has been stated that he had no living family or relatives which made him looking less favourable to Amamiya family(Nadeshiko's family).
Chieri,
^_^
your right on that one...

Consider the fact that the anime has enough filler episodes with too many cards. Ok a first season, I can except that, but a second and a third....Humm.....
I gotta get hold of some manga translations just so I can reconcile these info that do not appear in the anime.

Ak. Should have seen this before I pt up that new thread. Thanks for the link Suzaku but the link appears to be dead.

It's probably dead cuz the english translation was licensed by Mixx/Chixx something. Personally, I think the Bilingual version from Japan is better than the English only Mixx version and it's only a tad more expensive.

Thanks to Chieri_Asuka, I got the manga and just finished reading them. Now I understand that weird family tree thing. They don't really explain it all that much in the anime.
