What has been cut?

I don't really like CCS....but given the fact it at the moment it is the ONLY anime on terrestrial British television i found myself watching it every day. And i don't know if the British version has been cut...so what exactly Has been cut?

um im not sure but here on the station wb, they changed names and um got really horrible voice actings. plus they changed the dialouge alot. like when sakura calls on her staff she says different words then the unbutchered ver. im not sure what else cause i dont bother watchin it :D

they edited like, the romance, some friendship, some of the story etc, so basically, they edited EVERYTHING.

and how can you tell if its edited or not? well, here in the US, the butchered version is called CardCaptors and the uncut one is called Card Captor Sakura (the original title)

Well, they did switch some of the episodes around… Like they started with 7, then went to 14, back to 3… Some really weird crap… I'll look it up…

there are two parties concerning the changing of names, etc.
copyright holder (CLAMP) licensed client
since CLAMP have nothing to do with the changing of name (eventhough they have the right) therefore, the licensed client is to blame for the changing of names, cut scenes, etc.

I'm just glad to have gotten the series in Japanese with subtitles. I would have missed the delightful HoooeeeH. of Sakura.

the stations want to go straight to the plot without telling about character because they are aiming for the lil kids audiences and they wanna go straight the the action which entertains the kids :D

Miscellaneous changes:

Emphasis shifted from Sakura to Li
Characters undergo sometimes drastic personality changes; in the original, Tomoyo was unfailingly polite, kind and elegant
Music altered from mostly light and carefree to mostly dark/sinister
Syaoran's lasin board originally had kanji writing on it
More focus is placed on Sakura's everyday life in the original
Dialouge altered; American slang added where none existed, Japanese or otherwise
All references to other countries removed: Clow Reed is no longer the son of a English father and Chinese mother, Li and Meilin are not from Hong Kong
References to the death of Sakura's mother deleted
Numerous episodes deleted or broadcast out of order (#1 in Cardcaptors was #8 in the Japanese version)

Whew. I think that covers everything, not counting the indivdual edits made to each episode, but I'm not even gonna try that one, folks. I'd be here for days. Anyway, as you can see the original Cardcaptor Sakura was vastly different (and superior) to the dubbed Cardcaptors. The reason people are so steamed about the changes isn't because it's the worst butchering of an anime in recent memory. It's the way in which they changed it. All of the sweetness, the charm, the magic... GONE. Not to mention continuity.

And I was willing to bet anything that Sakura and Mdison were more than just friends.Even in the american version it's obvious enough.I can only imagine what the japanese version looks like

Yeah Syaoran always blushes and gets nervous around Yukito(Julian). He and Sakura are always fighting over him.

Oh by the way what was up with Sakura's female teacher? i can't remember her name but she was a mystical being or something and they stopped airing the series befor ei found out...

ahh you mean Kaho? umm...she is suppose to be something similar to a priestess at Tsukimine shrine(I think she was the daughter of theowner of the shrine) which is near Sakura's House. she was born with the power of moon like Sayoran and Yue but just different type of moon power. and the bell she holds during the episode where they capture the maze card and also in the final judgement also been magicked with strong moon power from Eriol. Since Eriol knew what would happen in the final judgement and when he met Kaho when she went originally to England he put the moon power in to that bell.She explains Why Sayoran didn't like her at the end of the first season in the manga or rather Clow cards part, that Sayoran's moon power was attracted to Yue's type of Moon power but not hers.

And late Eriol at the end of the manga series told hte Sakura and co. that it was himthat put the moon power into the bell.that's why Sakura was able to use windy without having to change it to a Sakura card with her new wand, because windy's attribute is moon. wow that explains a lot O.o...

i thought the bell was to give a second chance for sakura incase she didnt pass the judgement of being owner of the clow cards when she faced yue?

yeah but How can she use power of the star with a power of the darkness which activates the Clow cards? only way is to have the bell have enough power for Sakura to use the windy card since Clow knew she would use that. and it's a little later that she aconverts it from Clow card to Sakura card.

and Since Sakura's power , the Star power is stronger then Clow's, She had to conver the Clow cards to Sakura cards to use them either

Yuki was also Yue (which is why he eats so dang much) who got his powers from the moon type magic. Li was drawn to this moon power as chieri_asuka said. In the end (well at least in the manga since haven't seen that far in the anime) he calms his mind and relizes that Sakura is one he really cares for. It's actually quite cute.

I know about that, but I like to think there was a little bit of a crush in there, too. A non-threatening, positive male figure (remember, he's been raised mostly by his mother and older sisters), and highly capable, besides. I can easily see Syaoran idolizing Yukito in that way, thouh he'd probably never admit it. Besides, it's cute like that, and that's what CCS is all about.
