Well, I realise this has been here for while and no one's replied :heh: but there's a reason for that.....the game is CRAP!

Being a big Macross fan myself this was a huge let down and the only cool thing about it is the intro and one of the Macross 7 songs that goes with it.

VFX2 fares slightly better but I didn't really play it much but it's still crud non the less. I hate how BANDAI has all the best anime rights but none of them know how to make decent games (aside from the SD Gundam strategies).

I have VFX MMM for the Dreamcast and you use MAX, MIRIA and MIRAI (which is where the triple M comes from) but my bootleg copy of it doesnt work :( so I don't know if that's good. But the intro looked promising.

Yeah I've been wanting to check the games out but theres no way I'm getting a DC now and I guessed chances of a western release were slim

If you're a real hardcore gamer and you really play a game for how much challenge it gives you and it's well thought out presentation to get you into the game, then it's not worth getting at all (especially tracking down) cause after playing it for the first few seconds, you'll realise just how bad the game is (VFX1 is a very old game too, Air Combat 1 looks slightly better!) so maybe try and track down VFX2 but I wouldn't say that's a good game either although it is a tiny bit better than the 1st.

But... if you really want to get it just for the sake of getting it due to being a Macross fan, then you may like it but in the end, it's still a bad and unrewarding experience.

Can you please explain how it's bad?

Well to answer darkmarines' question...

VFX1....................
Firstly, the controls are very strange and unnatural in terms of how it acts very differently depending on what form you're in (like going fast and slow in the fighter mode suddenly becomes up and down in gernwalk mode but I guess that can get adapted to) and it handles quite bad.
The choppy frame rate makes it even harder to tell what's going on when there are people all around you and the grainy graphics don't help. Pop up is absolutely shocking.
You always get a sense of being in a really badly constructed artificial 3-D enviroment (kinda like playing racing games before full 3-D racing games were around, you don't really feel like you're there).
And lastly but most importantly, it didn't feel fun at all. I know it sounds harsh, but you will regret it if you pay full price for it. I honestly wouldn't recommend it for more than $5US

As you can see from that guy's review at the link Death gave us, that guy quite enjoyed pt 2 so who knows, you may too but I really hated the first one. Those shots he had does look better than what I remebered pt 2 to be.

I have a bootleg copy of Macross MMM...lets just say im glad its not released here...its just as bad,if not worse, than VFX. If any macross game is worthwhile,it would have to be Macross Plus game edition or the Sega saturn or PS versions of DYRL.

What was DYRL like on the PS? I never knew it came out for that...was it a port of the arcade version? If so then yeah, that was okay.

I do have the Arcade and SNES versions though and they were quite enjoyable and fun. The arcade one followed the movie quite well too.

The PS version of DYRL was a side shooter, like the Macross game for SNES. If i had to choose i would choose the Sega Saturn version because its way easier to get than the PS version. If anyone knows of a website that is selling it,send me a message.
I have the SNES version emulated on my PC. The arcade version was something ive always wanted to play.:music:
