Is their any plans for a continuation in the macross universe?

There is a new Macross in the works from what I hear, but no details about what it'll be. Definately not anything with the original characters and probably not anything with the Macross 7 characters either.

Macros Plus did ok in Japan but not as well as Macross 7 did. 7 was a big hit in Japan, but not as popular overseas.
