Question:
Do you need to have played the games to understand the storyline of any of the series/ova/films?
iie
you don't need to play the game if you want to understand the anime...if you've watched the TV series ^_^

Well, it is a bloke fantasy to begin with (The old "one guy, drove of girls" formula of Tenchi) with beautiful characters disgned by Fujishima "Ah My Goddess" Kousuke, the king of romantic fantasies. :kawaii:
It's not really a girly anime. There's enough action to satisfy the bloodlust of a hardy male(or female). The first OAV was a little slow but as the series went along it got REAL exciting!

Nothing beats exotic pre-20th century high tech steampunk technology in sheer coolness and exoticism. Hence the similar success of the Escaflowne franchise.
hai hai
i really like those pre-20th century/industrial era

It gives you an utopian fantasy of what the world could have been like in its more innocent years if man had applied his collective efforts of technology towards hope and progress instead of war back then :) instead of too late. :(
