Actually its pretty much the same except Vandread goes a bit deeper and Pilot Candidate only weakness is there is no sequel, left me hanging with massive amount of questions. Oh yeah, they don't have merging mecha:)

There are 5 main fighters, one is 4 guys and 1 girl the other is 4 girls 1 guy. They fight off "aliens", since Megami Kouhosei hasn't finished yet, there is no telling what their "Victims" is supposed to be. The mecha are some kind of technology they cannot understand(sounds familiar?). There is one main ship(did anyone see a second Nirvana(GOA) helping them out?). They fights overwhelming odds. Have I mentionned that their homeworld is being threatened and they are the only ones who can halt the invaders? Oh yeah, they have an unknown powersource(Plexis or EX take your pick), which happens to fuel the one technology that stop the enemies.

Ah, but look at the number of unanswered questions. CFG:

1 What is EX?
2 Why only 5 Goddesses?
3 Who are the Victim?
4 Does Zero Make it through? And the others?
etc.

Vandread:

1What is Pexis and how does it work?

And that is likly to be answered before the end of the serris. Also Vandread is a Comedy/Mecha anime and CFG is a Mecha/Drama.

"Candidate fo Goddess second Sierris under production"

Or better yet:

"Candidate For Goddess Sequal revealed"
