Who here remembers during somewhere in the 2nd Stage when Jura and Barnette were using the guns to get rid of those... one things.. Jura had a Steyr AUG Military Version, while Barnette had a... I can't remember what fire arm it was.. but man I liked that scene.. :D :heh: Considering I am such a gun freak! Anyways what was Barnette carrying? I cant remember, and im too lazy to go back and check what gun it was..

Ok I went and checked after all.. Barnette had a variant of the Ar-15.. hehe that was cool.. Jura is just standing there swinging her AUG around going nuts! LOL  By the way what year is the series in? I forgot.. it seems weird that they would still be using those kinds of weapons.
edit: oh yeah then barnette takes out the m60... and I didnt even notice BC was using a SPAS the whole time.. :D
Whats her face is using a flamethrower too, dont know what version of a flamethrower that is but it looks like a late 70s model.

I'd say that the year Vandread would be set in is at least 2500 or later, considering the level of technology and the changes Earth underwent.
If we assume that there is about 35 years between generations, then the colony ships where sent out about 150 years ago, as Grampa and Grandma are still alive and kicking, as well as the other 1st generation settlers (hibiki's grandfather).
Hence, as the technology is reasonably advanced, I'd judge that it would be about the date I estimated.

That episode really gives you a Resident Evil feel, knowing the enemy is approaching and seeing your ammo getting smaller...
And we got to see BC's nastier side.I always knew she could get out of bad situation herself but it was still cool to see her in action.
Rabat's return was empty though.I was expecting a sort of fight where Hibiki proved he had become smarter and wiser and had gotten "his own words".
Wormy
11-12-2001, 12:34 AM
Yeah, a rematch between Rabat and Hibiki would have been cool. Wonder if Hibiki would have learnt enough to win?

Have you watched episode 7 of second stage?
Wormy
16-12-2001, 07:32 PM
No, I haven't. And it don't matter, cause the point at which we are talking is in ep 4, so there.:p
Darklightz
16-12-2001, 08:15 PM
Lol,then you'll change your mind once you watch episode 7 :)
Wormy
16-12-2001, 10:41 PM
It doesn't matter if she has changed in ep 7. She hadn't in ep 4, so she wouldn't kave helped him.
If she has canged in ep 7 its probably something to do with her interation with Gasco, which happened in eps 5 and 6. Which, in case you didn't notice, is after ep 4.
Darklightz
17-12-2001, 11:47 AM
So?The series doesn't end at episode 4.We see how she becomes in episode 7 and 8 and that's what matters.
Wormy
17-12-2001, 09:37 PM
Yes, but we are talking about events in ep 4, so what eventaly happens does not matter.
So just shut up. I know that what happens in later eps are what matter in the end, but we are not talking about the end.

Though Vandread is such a firearm-centric show, its great to see that the Martial Art of close combat has not died out in the future.
For no matter how powerful a piece may be, there can only be so many bullets. A sword, sabre or whip, however, will never go out on you and can be equally if not more deadly than firearms in the right hands, as adequately shown in the "invasion of the green slimes" episode.
Even empty handed combat is far from obsolete due to its necessity of settling disputes of honour, as shown by Rabat & Hibiki's vicious bout of Kickboxing in the first season.
The more a piece of technology is, the more we become slaves to it. Conversely, the simplicity of a sword allows us to be its master. Therefore, although seemlingly inferior at first, the art of hand to hand combat is by no means useless or obsolete, and will be our best and last hope when our trusted guns finally fail us.
Till Next Time Take Care Of Yourselves And Each Other. :)

Jura is so french to begin with: Long Blonde Hair, Sexy Figure, Exotic Clothing, Charming as hell. With that Epee (French Rapier) of hers, she is practically a Dangerous Liasons cast member pulled 4,000 years into the future. :)

of course, Jura's "Bounce factor" is pretty extreme... note Season One opening...
interesting that all vandread characters have anglo-saxon last names... "Paiway Underberg" "Jura Basil Elden" stuff like that.
I know! sic Paiway onto Rabato! Either that or space him, just to watch him pop.

Uh, he just might get enjoyment out of the first punishment, for an amoral Ratbastard like him could very well be a peadophile on the side. :heh:
More painful than explosive decompression would be to give him to an Alien Hive as a host for a chestbruster...

You guys are cruel. Giving him to that kind of fate. The Chestburster senario would be heaven in comparison.:D
But it gets my vote, mainly because the Chest burster senario means more aliens.

How exactly is it an "easy" way out. Picture this.
You suddenly lurch and gargle as you lose the ability to breathe, and start quivering and suddenly launch a gout of food from the mouth as a fat serpentine thing uncurls itself within your oesophegus. Then you gargle as your scream is blocked by it as it starts to push upwards , out through your heart, diaphram and ribcage.
Convulsing in agony as the demon begins to chew , all your world is focused on the agony that is the inside of your chest. Your head is exploding, your eyes are jumping out of your sockets, as your body is denied of the precious life giving oxygen it soon will not need.
Suddenly, a fist punches outwards above your solar plexus, shattering your sternum, ripping through your diaphram and tearing the skin above, sending you arching forward and a column of blood flying upon your frightened friends. You feel the thing straighten itself below your sternum, admist your mangles heart and ruined lungs and ruptured stomach. You start to violently spasm, desperately attempting to force the now destroyed lungs to give air and life to your body.
To no avail. The thing starts punching again, and again and again, sendig shards of bone, gouts of blood and globs of organ flying out of the ragged hole that once was your sternum. Your beg for an end and hope to live on, in spite of having none. Suddenly, you were able to scream for one last time as your ruined lungs are cleared, as the thing crashes screaming out of your chest, sending a torrentrous spray of blood, bone and organ around you. Even as it screams its first breaths of life, you start to resentfully grieve for the loss of yours and cry, cry as your self fades into darkness, the pain of it dragging it out of your body, pulling feets of entrails along with it, its screeches heralding your journey to hell.
And This is An Easy Way Out?
Wormy
08-01-2002, 12:54 AM
In comparison to what Pai-way would do, yes. It would last under 30 seconds, whereas Pai-way's way would drag it out for indeterminate time.
Gimme the Chest burster over Paiway every time.

It depends. Second Officer Kane's agonising demise lasted a full 2 minutes and 30 seconds in Alien. Purvis's tragic and pitiable end lasted a full 3 in Alien Ressurection.
Wormy
08-01-2002, 11:58 AM
I think those were a little unrealistic. Dramatic effect and all that.
And no, you don't need to remind me that the Aliens serris is comletly fictional.
Ronin Aquila
08-01-2002, 01:55 PM
For a science fiction horror movie, Kane's death in Alien was chillingly realistic. Having your lungs arrested and losing the ability to breathe will send you into convulsing seisures. The crew's reaction of shoving a spoon in his mouth to stop him from choking on his own swallowed tongue only added to the realism.
John Hurt's portrayl of the agony agony of having his insides torn apart by a serpent from within is so tragically believable that it truly makes you pity his sufferings upon repeated viewings. His final spasmic convulsions as the thing peers its head from the ragged hole that was his sternum completed the horror of the most chilling moment in Sci-Fi history.

Ronin Aquila
09-01-2002, 11:22 AM
The true horror is that the sternum is that being an arch shape it is hard and firm , therefor forcing the creature to punch it really hard many many times to crack, buckle, and then shatter it to emerge.
tekblade
09-01-2002, 07:07 PM
thinking of it makes me cringe hehe  painful hehe , but being a patient of paiway, hmmmmmmm both seem horrid :D

And considering the morbidly enthusiastic curiosity towards "The Antena" that the women of the Nelvana have, the inhmane experiments performed by Pai to discover its exact qualities would make the recipient beg for a facehugger to jump on him.
