Subject: Vandread 2.9: Embrace me Closely... and wow I was not expacting that
Okay, just finished watching episode 9. Sorry, there was way, way,
way to much dialog for me to get these episodes with 100% accuracy,
but here are the biggie details.
The a) plot of the story Is that the Nirvana is going thru a pretty
wicked ice/comet/asteroid field.
A Blue VH clone Enemy is attacking. (BTW, Meia's ship's cockpit
changed a lot. Meia and Hibiki are sitting much closer, and the
control sphere that she was using is now a hand set type). Meia and
Hibki split, and Dita/Hibiki merge. The blast away one of the
enemies, then gets attacked by "red beam" weapon which sends Hibiki's
bot careening out into space.
Episode 9: Embrace me Closely...
Desert Planet. Hibiki has been thrown out. 5 men dressed similar to
Hibiki and Robert are arranged around. They seem to be debating what
to do, and the name "Robert" is mentioned at one point. Oh... and
they use telepathy rather then speach.
The Nirvana is "anchored" to a large asteroid. Ezra is trying to
raise Hibiki. Meia and Co try to do something, etc.
The Boss leaves the bridge, says something about the boy, then
clutches her heart... "at a time like this".
Hibiki is stting and surounded by the "wise men" of this particular
planet. They give him something to drink. The kids laugh at him.
There seems to be some test for Hibiki to pass. (think of it as a
walkabout). Long winded speach, etc.
Pyro's screen flashes. Parfeit sees wierd things in the Pexis core.
The girls are using the computer to try and track Hibiki, but having
no luck. (BTW, by girls, Dita, Meia, Jura, BARNETTE and Misty).
Hibiki si climbin a peak. The old guys keep butting into his mind. He
starts hearing voices from his past, whenever he was doubted, etc. He
then falls. (anyone hit over the head by the metaphor yet?).
Robert comes, because it just would not be a Hibiki episode without
him. They call Robert Samell rather then Robert.
Dueor is trying to figure out the mystery, and Hibiki has no data.
Pyro floats in, dumps a whole bunch of data. Duero is surprised by
something.
Pexis mode hashin!
Hibiki is talking to the Pexis, and asks who he is. Flash back...
Pexis's voice is Gasco at first, btw.
Flash to a porthole. Looking out the porthole are 8 colony ships.
Hibiki looks down and see's his father and his _mother_ holding him
up in the air as is parents are wont to do with rugrats. He sees his
big sister looking in his cradle... a big sister with blonde hair. He
sees technicians floating next to walls of cold sleep containers.
Hibiki sees himself in a reflection, as a very young kid.
Flash to the Pexis core onboard the Ship. Flash to Meia. She hears a
heartbeat. Dita hears a heart beat, Jura hears a heart beat. All
three of them in a rather trance like point at a spot on the map.
Meia says Hibiki is there. Barnette is a bit freaked out about it.
Duero tells the boss who Hibiki is...
They see the Fleet, it is getting ripped apart by the storm. The
little girl runs away looking back at something. She sees her mother
(the same as Hibiki's mother) plugging her into a escape pood/cold
sleep mechanism.
The Baby in the picture is Hibiki. Hibiki sees himself in the Pexis.
Pexis acts up again, blinding poor Parfeit. The anchor comes undone,
and the ship takes off (sans bart, who is not controlling).
Pyro goes and talks to Parfeit. Didn't catch it sorry.
Hibiki keeps talking. He then hears Pyro's voice. Hibiki seems to
understand what Pexis is, for a moment.
old guys drawing things in the sand. They identify different things.
One of the things they identify is the "Blue Declaration of Victory"
(or at least, that was the way that E-F subbed it a few weeks ago).
BTW, Robert doesn't know their mind trick. He still talks. They talk
(I think) about Bura for a moment. Flash back to a downed spaceman.
Named Samell Adams. He stumbles out, looks up at a cliff, and sees
Bura and one of the wise men who rescue him.
The chief elder is drawing in the sand. He draws there four things,
Hibiki in the middle, a blue wolf, a white bird, and a red snake?
(maybe.. can't make up the shape).
Hibiki is still climbing. He still hears Pyro's voice, and talks with
the Pexis.
The ship continues to track Hibiki. The enter a new Quad and see
Hibiki's signal. Dita takes off.
Hibiki climbs. Duero runs into engineering and Parfeit.
Old guys are still climbing. many flashbacks.
Last flash back is Hibiki getting thrown out by his "ji-chan".Red
beam attacks. Hibiki shrugs it off.
Shot of Meia staring out into space. Shot of Misty looking concerned,
Jura behind her looking concerned (with barnette placing a hand on
her shoulder). Old man keeps drawing. Keeps climbing. And in a cave
is a blue pexis field. (Hmm. That's probably why Robert was surprised
by the Blue Pexis on the ship).
Hibiki is standing on top of the mountain. The picture is done, it is
now much larger. Some of them are obviously other characters. For
example, there is Wolf w/ Paiwei's hair, etc.
Hibiki stands on top of the rock, and yells a typical Hibiki line.
Dita spots him and flies directly overhead. The weight of the sonic
boom crushes hibiki and sends him thousands of feet to his doom...
err that's not right.
Shot of Jura hugging Misty, kissing her over and over. Barnette looks
less then please, Misty looks shell shocked. Bart is on the screen
just kinda grumbeling.
Meia is in her sad place (the observation deck) looking out. Duero
and Parfeit talk for a bit.
Pai Check.
The recover Hibiki's equipment. They give hibiki some sort of jewell,
and leave it on his head. Ship is almost home, and they head off to
the distance...
Confused yet?
Then the Boss realizes that the little girl in her picture (remember
the small on of her with pigtails?) wasn't a girl.....
1) Hibiki appears to be one of the original colonists. Not just one
of the original colonists, It looks like he was the little boy in the
picture that Boss has next to her bed (yep....... Boss seems to be a
bit surprised that this was a boy). (For the record, remember when I
pointed out that I was not completly sure that the "oma" in the
picture was actually female?). Halfway thru, they hit this storm
cloud system they are currently in, and the fleet dispersed. Part of
the fleet crashed in the storm, part on Taraku, part on Mejuru (I am
guessing). My further guess is taht the ships were gender segregated,
which is why this happened in the first place.
(Ie, two ships survived, one only had men, one had women).
2) Speaking of Boss, she is not long ofr this world. She has
something that was probibly a stroke or a heart attack at the
begining of the episode.
3) Remember that line from EV about how Meia and Hibiki's daughter
could talk to Pexis? There is some stuff that could tie in fairly
easily here.
4) I am betting that "ji-chan" is actually Hibiki's father. For
whatever reason, it seems to have taken Hibiki longer to thaw.
5) I listened to the Vandread 2 OST this week. We have a lot of
tradgady in front of us before this series is done, and
some "wonderous" moments.
