Well I watched DVD 3 of NieA last night and so many things lead up to the 4th DVD. Like Niea leading you to believe the mothership is saying Sayanara, Chie's dad telling her the firefly's are saying goodbye, and then the DVD ends with NieA not coming home. The last DVD isn't coming out until Febuary 12 either. ARGH!!!!!! Too many unanswered questions

…. And might I add that Lain Team has done it again. Like Lain, you get halfway through the series then your perception of some of the main characters changes rapidly. With that one phone conversation I got a completely different take on Mayuko and Genzo. Up till then I’m thinking OK, boyhood crush. Listen to that phone call with Mayu’s mother again. Does mom seem to be leading her, prompting her? Suddenly a bunch of stuff falls into place raising questions.

1. Mayu was a top ten student. What is she doing in cram school?
2. Mayu doesn’t even remember Genzo’s name when she’s told that his family moved to town, Yet Genzo recognizes her from a brief glimpse as she rides past on her bike. Also interesting is how she falls right into calling him by his first name, even while Genzo is careful to use her last name. This seems to me to indicate that their relationship is much more recent than preschool.
3. Ok, if that is true then Genzo’s behavior takes on a different light. What looked like shyness may be caution? Is he quiet because he is afraid he might say the wrong thing? The gifts which seemed at first to be ploys to get her attention as inappropriate (or at least weird) as they seemed or is he quietly taking care of her? And why does her depresion lift after they do have a real conversation?
4. What’s with the marks on the hallway wall? The ones that look like the marks carved by parents to measure a child’s growth. Those have been deliberately shown a couple of times.
5. Even the standing argument about who moved into the room first gets a different treatment. Instead of just lightly tossing off the cuff her argument that she was there first. NieA quiet seriously says that she was there first - “But it’s true!”. Don’t you begin to wonder who is right?
6. Mayuka’s reaction to NieA’s tease that she could become an Alien. Is it just me or does that seem kind of an over reaction? Hmmmm.. The plot thickens.
7. Now for the real clincher. Mayuka claims to have never been in a supermarket? What planet has she been living on?

I was going to draw some theories out of this but I’ll leave it to you folks. All I can say is I think we’re in for another kick-in-the gut-ending. What masterful story telling. Applause!

I'm pretty sure they said that Myuko's dad owned the bathhouse when she was a kid. Those are probably her growth marks.

I really like Genzo ^_^ And he really showed how sweet he is in Sayanara...

But I agree... too many questions left unanswered!!!

2 and a half more weeks till the 4th dvd comes out (2/12). We can all soon rest and have all the open question answered. What I hope though is that the 4th dvd will tie up all the question that have been tossed up...
