Could someone explain to me how the anime 'gunsmith cats' and 'riding bean' came about. They were both loosely based on the manga, but ended up as two completely separate anime OAV's.
They had different character backgrounds, and were made by different people.

Kenichi Sonoda designed both the charas for Riding Bean, & Gunsmith Cats..., but the contractual rights to the anime versions of the aforementioned series do not belong to the same company..., which is why a 'version' of the Bean Bandit appears in the GSC manga..., but not in the anime...,
Riding Bean was released in 1989 by AIC.., which (I believe) have the rights to the Riding Bean..., when Sonoda created the GSC anime in 1995 with a different production company, he couldn't use the Bean Bandit in the GSC anime...,

Yep..., I've seen Riding Bean...., the reason it has an 18 rating is due to the abusive sado-masochistic relationship between Semmerling, & her child-slave....,
