Hi,
I was recently thinking about making a purchase for the 5 part OVA and Movie on DVD and I was just wondering...

1. Besides the manga, Is their currently any other OMG series(tv, or other OVA or movies) that tie w/ these in or are there any in the works?

2. Where does the Movie fit in??

3. Where does the Manga fit??

Thanks in advance;)

well, there is a series called Adventures of Mini Goddeses. i think there's about 48 short episodes to it. The series focuses on a chibi Skuld, Urd, and a rat friend.

2. Where does the Movie fit in??
i haven't gotten to see the movie yet :( but i'm sure there's others here who can answer that for you

3. Where does the Manga fit??
the manga is just like a longer more fulfilling version of the ova's. it goes on where the shows stopped. right now there's 23 japanese manga and i think 9 translated. i really recomend them (japanese is best)!!!

The time line for the movie is three years after the start of the OAV. or 2 1/4 years after the end of the OAV.

Go for the OAV first. The movie is better that way.

Where does this Mini Goddess series take place???

There is no specific timeline for Adventures of Mini Goddess’s. The intro just states it is sometime after the trio moves in with Keiichi. It is, after all, just a series of cartoon (omake) shorts featuring the goddesses in chibi form and a rat. (shrug) I’ve only seen the first short, which was included on the AMG movies DVD release. It could be that Kei and the others make chibi appearances in further episodes. If the first installment is any indication it will consist mostly of Urd and Skuld playing tricks on the poor rat. It was pretty funny.

I always thought the movie was "based" on the mangas being that it includes characters not seen in the OVA.
And I'm sure there is far more translated mangas than just 9
:confused2
Unless you're talking about the tpbs then there are 11, with one coming out on march.

This is how I've understood it all;

Ova; This're consisting of the earlier mangas, however it distances itself a bit from it.

Movie; I ain't sure, but I think this're pretty much the same as the OVA with more grounds from the manga *blinks*

Manga; This'd be the foundation for it all, and expands past the OVA and the movie.
-----

AotMG; This one pretty much just borrows the characters and puts them in various short, funny movies/comic strips.

I thought that the mini goddess series happened during the ova timeline and onwards. Since it is mainly Urd and Skuld in it and these two stay home while Keechi and Bellchan are out most of the time and it's to keep them amused.

Just my thoughts

The OVA, as said above, is basically the early manga. A few changes were made, the most notable being the whole "childhood friends" thing which is not the case in the manga.

The Mini-Goddess TV shorts are coming out in Feb 2002 last I heard. If you've seen the tiny comic strips included in some of the manga chapters, this show is basically them. Short (7 minutes each?), hilarious, and starring Urd, Skuld, and Gan-chan. Belldandy makes rare appearances. Lots of parodies and really funny, original stuff.
2. Where does the Movie fit in??
The movie includes many of those characters you see at the beginning of the OVA's and who appear in the manga. In tone it's more serious than the OVA's, rather like some of the serious story arcs in the manga. However, the plot is unique to the movie, since Morgan, Celestine and the Gate of Judgement are not mentioned anywhere else in OMG. :) Timeline wise, the current manga (both Japanese and Dark Horse) are further along than the movie, since Keiichi is now working while he finishes his last credit hour at NIT. :heh: Having been there and done that, and gone to summer school to get that last course in, I can certainly relate to poor K1. Just like him, I was a victim of an admissions office who couldn't count.
3. Where does the Manga fit??
The manga is the foundation of all else. It's the only part of OMG that Fujishima has always had creative control over, and therefore is best at imparting his vision. Things happen slowly in OMG, which focuses on the characters rather than an EVA-type plot or Ranma-type slapstick. Looking at the over 10 years worth of manga, it's amazing how everyone has grown, especially the goddesses. You can't see that development in the OVA's or movie, as wonderful as they are.

Yep,

What happened is Animiego got the license for the OAV and Pioneer got the license for the movie. I’m not sure if the Title difference is due to translation differences or copyright issues or what but pioneer choose to use the AMG title. The Manga translations carry the OMG title.

Pioneer did the following.

*They used the title Ah! My Goddess b/c thats how it is shown in the opening of the movie.
*They used different VAs'
*They did both to seperate themself from the known release of OMG by Animeigo.
