Finally "X" tv series is out ! :D

Well people, what do you think?? for those who have seen it!

I personally think it's way better than the movie!
For one thing, it actually follows the manga much better!
Also, got some good music as well! :)
The artwork/graphics are really nice, I found it smooth looking! hehe.... ;)

Also, i'm lookin for this music, but dunt know what's called!
It's played all the time.... i remember in ep 5, Princess Hinoto was explaining to Kamui for the first time about her dreams... and they were lookin over Tokyo???

If anyone knows what that is... please tell me!! Thanks!!

anybody know the music that is played over and over again in almost every ep, like in the first ep, when kamui jump up the fence? or when he and nataku is fighting and they fall down the building? i LOVE that song, so pretty

is the x tv series a retelling of the movie or is it a sequel?

X tv serie is more like an alternate way of telling the story of the X world more properly then the movie could.

Beautiful animation, excellent music, great pacing, and bishounen. I think this series will rank among my top five favorites by the end ^^

Damnit, no one can figure out what that song is called...guess we'll have to wait for the OST to be released, eh?

As the series progresses, I -have- noticed a lot of changes from the manga...but they're really minor things, and I already knew some would happen (the director said he wanted to slow the pace of the story to make it easier to understand). Besides, I trust Yoshiaki Kawajiri's work. He's a fantastic director.

I have only one complaint about the series: they NEED a second season! Character development in some of the secondary characters will be lost if they don't. I'd say another 11-12 episodes would really be all they need, and that's maximum. Perhaps a later OVA?

another great work by CLAMP ^^

i'm now on eps. 12...i've watched every single eps. (in raw japanese)

the TV series is definately based on the manga (they used Kakyou instead of the other character in the movie...forgot his name)

oh yeah...according to CLAMP

X TV series is only 14 eps. all in all

snowcherry

It's actually 24 episodes ^^ And Kakyou's movie substitute's name was Shougo, I believe...I could be wrong, it's been a long time since I saw that movie.

Of course, the fact that Kakyou was not in the movie was IMO one of the worst changes :p Not that there was any place for a frail, comatose dreamgazer in that crappy movie.

surfing the web the other day and I came across a DVD entitled "X Chapter 0"

http://anime-cartoon.com/catalogue/224.jpg

can someone tell me what this is? It's different then the movie because the same site had the movie DVD listed right next to this "Chapter 0" one.

suzaku

i think that's the OVA

snowcherry
07-01-02, 12:31 PM
Yep, that's the OVA.

I thought of something recently: were they to make a second season for the TV series, a good place to leave off on this first one would be the events of tankubon 16. It's arguably the second biggest turning point in the story (the first being SPOILER Fuuma becoming evil END), and it would make one hell of a cliffhanger ^^

Mou...the more I think about it, the more I really, really wish they'd make a second season.

you can request to Ohkawa Nanase-sensei since that's her story ^_^

I heard OVA is better than the movie.... and it's re-telling again!
I rather prefer the tv series better!! :p

Well CLAMPS next tv series is Chobits which is coming out April but lets hope a second series of X is on the way after that coming in around october again

snowcherry
08-01-02, 01:06 PM
Well, the OVA is a prequel (or as Yumiko put it, a commercial ^^) to the TV series. It begins the retelling of the story that the TV series continues, and it's much more accurate to the manga (though some liberties were taken to slow the pace a bit).

And Westlo, I'm looking forward to Chobits myself ^_^

Westlo
09-01-02, 01:27 AM
Same here i'm also looking forward to Chobits alot and i've been following the manga thats being put into english.

8 chapters so far from the first volume, do you know how many volumes that has been released in japan and if they are still making it?

Westlo

Good news X TV's OST is apparantly out and hopefully i'm getting the song we are all wanting. I'll tell you later if its the right one but i'm getting
x_tv_ost_-_02_-_sadame_(destiny).mp3

Westlo
09-01-02, 02:03 AM
Yeah sadame is the track you have all been looking for now to get the rest of the ost. also i bet their will be a second ost coming out since some songs in the series didn't make the ost apparantly

suzaku
09-01-02, 02:42 AM
can't wait for Chobits ^_^

I have too much time on my hands even if i go out for 10 hours i usually get at least 3 hours of time on the net so i'm going to try and download all the episodes on my super 56k (it has a red cape)

Ep two 295 meg sigh

Anyone get the ost yet i only got sadame so far since i can't find it

Also since X is going to be 22 manga volumes i hope they don't try to make an ending up for this series and instead finish the manga than animate x season 2

snowcherry
12-01-02, 05:42 PM
They're going to have to make up an ending, as the manga probably won't be finished for another year and a half or so (vol. 17 just came out, but the monthly installments are up to vol. 18-ish). On average, two or three volumes come out per year, so we're looking at getting up to 20 at max by the end of the year, and that's only if CLAMP doesn't decide to take a long break like they have in the past ¬_¬ A year and a half is just a little too long between TV series---most of the viewers unfamiliar with the manga will have forgotten and lost interest in the series by then.

I say we just hope that they don't use the movie ending. Ugh.

suzaku
12-01-02, 06:56 PM
iie

CLAMP will not use the movie ending...

Just wondering, how many episodes have been fansubbed so far? Or, where could I found out.

Westlo
13-01-02, 09:04 AM
12 episodes have been fansubbed

Anyway to the ppl who are downloading it

Which version do you think is better (AI) or (AP)

Takahashi
13-01-02, 10:58 AM
I don't care as long as I get something:D

heerogf
13-01-02, 11:48 AM
AI, for the first few ep, i can watch the series with big screen and i'll still look good, the sub is good though, not sure if i watch AP yet

suzaku
13-01-02, 07:24 PM
don't know...i haven't tried the two yet

snowcherry
15-01-02, 05:40 PM
AP looks and sounds better, but AI has more legible subs. AP makes for some lovely screenshots.

Episode 12 is downloading right now :D So far, so good. Dear god the animation is gorgeous. I guess this is the big plot twist episode. I'm shocked that anime Kotori is so different from manga Kotori. Manga Kotori is a giggling twit. Anime Kotori is a sweet, quiet girl tangled in confusing and painful circumstances. I dunno...I guess it's not that big a change, but anime Kotori seems considerably more mature and mentally stable.

almost everything is different in both the manga and the series

Man you're upto ep 12 already and you're on 56k :heh

Though if i solely concentrated on X i might be around their

I agree with what you said about the AP and AI versions, AI is also better in that you can fit more eps on cd but with cds being so cheap....

ok...question

where do i get this video files??? IRC or something???

snowcherry
16-01-02, 12:51 AM
I use WinMX myself...but yeah, IRC would work. I think there's some site that hosts a few episodes as well, but a) I can't give the link and b) uh...I can't -find- the link -_-;

Oh, and Westlo: it's because I've skipped a few episodes. If I tried to download all of them, I'd have to have WinMX running literally 24/7 and just pray to not be disconnected.
Damn the 56K.

I like the AI translation better, plus their font is easier to read while watching the animation.

To comment on the series itself, you have no idea how glad I was when the plot actually moved in episode 12. Don't get me wrong, the presence of character development in the series was a nice change from the movie, but I was getting worried that they'd back themselves into th same corner as before (i.e. not having enough time to give the real battle the treatment it deserves).

snowcherry
16-01-02, 06:11 PM
You won't have to worry about the plot not moving for long, as at this rate they -have to- start focusing on killing off characters if they intend to finish in only one season.
::is bitter::

The manga doesn't really move per se either. The first seven volumes were essentially a really extended prologue. However, they have much Sorataness, which is something the later volumes sorely lack (at least to the degree that the beginning had), so I can't exactly complain.
Frankly, I'd rather see character development than a two-hour "final battle" anyway. X is shoujo, after all, and thus much time must be devoted to angst and sappiness ^^
Then again, I could just be trying to delay the inevitable bloody deaths of characters I've grown pitifully attached to.

Shale
16-01-02, 06:15 PM
By "real battle," I mean

SPOILERS, EVEN THOUGH YOU MOST LIKELY SAW THIS COMING A MILE AWAY

the semi-war between the Angels and the Seals that had damn well better start up now that Kamui and Fuma have become the Dragons of Heaven and Earth, respectively - not just the climax.

snowcherry
16-01-02, 07:18 PM
Like I said, there's no feasible way they can end it within 24 episodes unless they begin killing everyone off ASAP.

Of course, the pace so far has been relatively slow, which leaves us a glimmer of hope for a second season...but I've yet to even hear a rumor about this actually happening, so I have my doubts.

ok question...

i've watched eps. 14 (the gathering) and i was wondering...

why do Kamui have to seal the 2nd Holy Sword inside this alter (i think)??? is this sword an intricate part of the coming Holy War???

^FallenAngel^
17-01-02, 06:14 AM
I've got a question here...

why did Kamui chose to be the protector?
Why can't he just walk away from it all??
If he chose to be on one side, Fuma have to be the opposite.... *sobs* sooo not fair!!

Takahashi
17-01-02, 08:23 AM
This shows is all about destiny and how futile it is to try and change it. Even if Kamui chose to walk away, it still won't change the fact that Fuma is gonna awaken into Kamui. Then Kamui2 can chose whichever future he likes, its better to chose your own future. Instead of letting someone else decides your future for you Kamui wants to pick his own future, thats why Kamui was so angry when that dream seer was trying to manipulate him to pick a future she wants him to believe in. Knowing the movie ending, you would probably know that Fuma would pick the destruction of all life on earth, thats why his memory was sealed away from him.

Shale
25-01-02, 05:01 PM
@suzaku - from what I could tell, he had to seal the sword because doing so also sealed Fuma's holy sword. It was better to deprive Kamui of his weapon than to give the Angels access to the sword's power.
