View Full Version : Kirika-Chan is so cute!!
Ronin Aquila

Just look at her!! She is such a sweet girl forced into such a horrid life. She is kind and vulnerable, and every one of her regrettably rare smiles are moments of pure angelic beauty. :kawaii: And whenever she cries, you can't help but reach out, hold her in your arms and comfort her. :bawling:
Here's to you, Kirika-Chan, may your smile never die. :)

Are you planning to cosplay as Kirika... oops... why did i say that! mental images... no NO NO!!!!
Ronin Aquila

I got it from the Ezboards Noir Discussion Forum; it was someone's signature.
Oh, Mister Nairohe, I wasn't planning to do that cosplay, but now that you mentioned it, a good idea is a good idea.

I like the way she eats an icecream, its just so cute
she's looking up at Mireille with such baby eyes and she got her fore finger on the point of the cone and she's slowly pushing it in while she chews

And the way she goes "Esho" like a little girl whenever she lifts something or sits down on a chair is so cute too!! :kawaii:

And as a martial artist, it would be wonderful to have such a skilled little sister to practice with....

Personally, I would just like to spend 20 minutes with her on the ferris wheel, in each others arms as the starry night is filled with the brilliant blossoms of summer fireworks... :kawaii:

I'm just the following, mate:
1) Incurably romantic
2) Sick of having a male hating, cynical, mean tempered, blame-everything-the-father-did-to-her-on-me-and-gives-me-so-much------I-want-to-slash-my-wrists-if-it-were-not-wanting-to-live-to-watch-anime, feminazi b!tch for a sister instead of and adorable sweet girl like Kirika-Chan.
A good enough reason, my friend?

Hmm.. quite a surprise to see this kind of thread here. I saw Noir just last week... And it's probably the first anime where I didn't pay much attention to cute/beautiful girls.
*** spoilers ***
To me, the main question about Kirika in the series was her true identity - a coldblooded assassin with a divine purpose, or just a quiet girl who likes to draw and eat icecream. Need I say, I was very touched by Noir's ending.
As for brothers and sisters.... Ooh, I'd like to have her as my sister. It really doesn't matter that she's skilled with guns. She's cute, and honest, and can probably make you feel so good just by having a cup of tea with her. Kirika is a kind of girl, who you hate (because she's so much better than you), admire (because she seemes so wholesome, but you really can't get close to her) or love (because you just do). I just love her.
thedarkmarine
25-01-02, 12:02 PM
She's just so damn innocent it hurts. The look on her face when she points the gun...
scanned
25-01-02, 12:45 PM
Imagine what she must've felt, when she told Artena in the last episode, that "i will bear my sins as kirika"... To me, that was the momenth of truth in Noir.
I can't stop thinking... didn't she really feel anything, when she pulled the trigger? But on the other hand, all those people who were assassinated by her, weren't really "innocent civilians", they were all criminals, the scum of the earth. Naah, this's just too confusing... I have to rewatch the series and focus only on Kirika to bring some clarity into this.
tekblade
25-01-02, 07:02 PM
she was sorta trained to kill so i guess she really didnt feel much remorse killing them
scanned
25-01-02, 07:12 PM
There were many moments in the series, where she hesitated, don't you think? Especially in that episode with the russian who killed tatars during the world war in some camps. But what was the source of that hesitation? That I cannot tell.
Ronin Aquila
25-01-02, 11:52 PM
Kirika-Chan momentarily reconsidered her when she considered how wholeheartedly this old man tried to repent for his sins, at the cost of his own physical well being. Then she proceeded, as that was the only way for him to die with a clear conscience.
tekblade
26-01-02, 12:08 AM
hmmm i believe that is so :D i guess shecould kill him because like you said ronin he tried to redeem himself and i think kirika thought it was the time for him to go
Ronin Aquila
26-01-02, 12:39 AM
Not quite. What I meant was she knew he was a good man attempting to change, but she also knew he would die with a guilty conscience if not punished appropriately for what he did. Everyone deserves to die a natural death, including him. However, Kirika-Chan knew that although he wants to do some good before he dies, he also wants punishment for his sins, and will not die in peace until he receives it. :bawling:
scanned
26-01-02, 08:20 AM
Ronin Aquila, you're probably right. At least I want to believe so.
But hey, there's another kawaii side of Kirika... It was so touching, how Kirika cared for Mireille, don't you think? And that letter she wrote to her, when she left to search for Artena... Aahh. *sob*.
Ronin Aquila
27-01-02, 08:58 AM
And that scene in Taiwan when she picks up the dried lizard and looks at it sheepishly at the Chinese medicine shop. That just screams kawaii all over it!! :kawaii:
scanned
27-01-02, 09:32 AM
And I can't get one image out of my head: Kirika sitting by a river and painting, only green grass and sunlight surrounding her. So peaceful... So sweet... So Kirika.
Ronin Aquila
27-01-02, 11:43 AM
I would just sit next to her and give her a big hug around the shoulder if only she would not snap my neck out of pure, un-malicious reflex. :heh:

27-01-02, 12:09 PM
I think that a kind, caring and sincere friend is something that Kirika treasures more than anything... So she'd probably just give you a kawaii smile, and ask if you like her picture. Or maybe she'd just smile. =)

Ep 2: When they were sitting in a cafe, and Kirika had that t-shirt with the french flag... just sitting there, and looking around, not so sure, if she'd supposed to be relax, enjoy herself... She looked a bit confused, and she was also a bit shy... That scene just screamed kawaii all over.

Picture this romantic moment:
The tranquility of the dusty old library is only broken by the occasional multi-chromatic hews of sunlight filtered through the saints guarding the stain glassed windows. Kirika-Chan is presently absorbing the poetry of an ancient manuscript. Her detication to the studies lent her already elegant face a mature charisma, and her delicate silver framed spectacles only helped to further accentuate that beauty.
She is beautiful with glasses, isn't she? :kawaii:
The fluttering of a passing moth rudely brought her flinching back from the world of literature into dull reality, and sending the book at hand hurtling onto the grimy floor. Almost apologetically, Kirika-Chan bends down to retrieve the tome, only to have her hands meet with that of a kind stranger.
Mutually they regarded each other, with only the stained-glass saints as witness to the begining of a beautiful friendship.

The golden path to happiness in life is to enjoy the "little things" - eating icecream and drinking tea in an outdoor cafe in Paris. Or just sitting on the green grass and painting. I feel like, after all she's been through, she still is more happy, in her own way, more than most people can ever be. Sadness on her right side, happiness on her left side. Interesting, complex and oh-so sweet girl she is...

I was actually thinking today, what it'd be like, if she were my sister. I'd sit around at home, practice viol, and then she'd come saying "tadaima", and then I'd just run to her and give her the longest hug. I'd make her sit by the TV, and while she'd watch her favourite (anime?)show, I'd bring her icecream and grapes. =)
Aawwhh... why can't I have a sister like her??!

Not yet, Mister D, to both questions.
I won't set foot on Terra Australis until the 26th day of February of the year 2002.
And even then, it will be on the morning following a midnight flight. Therefore, tired as I am, I won't be able to talk to anyone until the 27th.
Sorry about that.
Back on topic.
Kirika-Chan must be immune to Jetlag. For judging from personal experience, unless she is flying at least Business class, the poor dear must be constantly insomnic/dead tired from all that constant international flying she does on her jobs.

Just had a thought about how similar Kirika-chan and Ruri-chan are in some ways.
Both are incredibly calm and efficient at what they do, did not have normal childhoods, and are supremely moe - "moe" meaning the type of cuteness a real human cannot have, only an anime character can.
Kirika-chan and Ruri-chan, long lost sisters, finally reunited... :kawaii:

22-02-02, 04:40 AM
For me the difference between the two is as follows:
Ruri is cute. She has the cute look down pat; it’s almost painful to look directly at her. Her eyes are beautiful and she has blue hair, which I have never been able to resist.
Kirika is vulnerable and sweet. I feel as though I want to go hug her and somehow protect her from all the nastiness she has forced upon her during the series. She also seems to have a greater depth, causing me almost to percieve her as actually being there, feeling things.
To compare them is impossible as they both represent different aspects of the overall 'cute' attraction.
Miss Ayanami was able to combine many of those said aspects and it took me around two years to get past the ‘obsessive’ stage. Ronin seems to be going through something similar right now, but directed at Kirika.
Ronin: I feel your pain, wonderful as it is.

It becomes pain later on, when you are forced to watch a bad hentai film involving the character in question doing unpleasant things to Shinji and his father. But hey, if you are lucky you won't have to suffer that in your case. :)
Mind you, it can get touchy when your co-workers look at your wallscroll and repeatedly comment on the size of the character's breasts and how the plug-suit makes them stand out. As if she is nothing more than that.
As if she is not a real person, with feelings!
Tainting her with their impure thoughts and words!
Oh..err...sorry, getting carried away. *breathes*

Perhaps Kirika-Chan's ultimate appeal is identical to that of Ayanami Rei's. She is so vulnerable and sweet, and yet so regrettably unhappy that her few moments of happiness are made all the more precious, and your heart breaks with her's every time you are forced to see her suffer. :bawling:
In short, she appeals to our subconcious paternal instincts to protect the lost child, and therefore is extremely easy to love. :kawaii:

And so forth until the 10th Dan.

Far from it, dear chap. For we are still talking about cute girls of anime!! :kawaii:
This is Yomiko Readman, the ditzy heroine of the recent 3 Part OVA Read Or Die. She is a sweet, kind, abscent minded 25 year old schoolteacher who works for the British Intelligence Agency. Her powers can be summarised as thus: A paper controlling version of Magneto. Her almost obsessive yet innocent love of books reflects her powers. :)
She is well shaped without being sexual, and sweet without being disgustingly so. And most of all, she is very cute and huggable, just like our Darling Kirika-Chan. :kawaii:

Good lord!
I must confess to now feeling distinctly obtuse (a feeling I have been getting a great deal lately, probably linked in some way to watching Furi Kuri). I simply did not realize it was Yomiko, though I know her well enough that there should have been no problem with recognition.
I have written a review of Read Or Die for a website (not mine), no less, and gave it 9/10 (the highest rating I have yet given out).
Perhaps this case of mistaken identity can be laid at the feet of cruel avatar restrictions, which have forced her visage into so tiny and cramped a square. (no offence to Eva2000, avatar limits are good things for keeping forums speedy)
In any case I must agree, Yomiko-chan is a very pleasant young woman, though from where she draws her powers mystifies me.

Sadly there often seems to be a price to pay when using special skills or powers. That is, after all, a central plot element in many anime (the inner battle fought by characters).
I do not wish to risk sounding perverse, because I take no joy in seeing the suffering of such characters. But that said, the terrible trails they are forced to endure contributes to their appeal. Characters which cause you to feel knotted up inside, whom you wish you could reach out and comfort, have always been the type I gravitate toward and grow to love.

I really like that picture of her holding a lock of hair, its quite sweet. The expression, as Ronin said, of innocence and sheepishness is charming, and for some reason causes me to wish I had a life-size plushie.
Of course with characters like her you could post any number of pictures, because she is cute almost all the way through the series.
Open any random episode, watch for two or three minutes and there, another cute shot of Kirika.

No, angel in this "Sweet, Gentle, Lovely and Adorable" sense. Mirelle is an (admittedly attractive) one night fling I would forget in 30 minutes whereas Kirika-Chan's smile is a harbour of warmth that I can always dock on from the harsh ocean of hate and cruelty that is this world. :kawaii:

... and then she points a silenced pistol at you and bang (or not bang with the silencer and all). ^^ Kirika has a Rei-smile. I think Kirika is generally cool, but calling her cute seems a bit... ~~>_<~~

Mirelle Bouquete is quite a shagadelic chick, I concur. Can't quite stand the sh!tty attitude towards everyone and everything though.

And darn, after all this time we have forgot to mention her angelic voice!! Low yet innocent, sweet yet not sachrine, it is so just so pleasing to the ear to hear her speak to you, especially when she is happy!! :kawaii:
Falling for anime girls. :heh:
But I admit, I have my own two (one would expect no less of me) darling goddesses (NO not Mireille, Belldandy, or Ayanami). The real girls would be jealous, if they knew.
Twistin' the words a bit:
Mireille wouldn't go for a one night stand with me! She'd be hangin' on for months pleading for more. And of course I'd concur.
On Mireille's personality:
Mireille's a woman on a mission, and damnit she's gonna do whatever it takes. So, she's not all that kind to Kirika during the series, but the end hints she will be.

I go away for a week or so and this thread is still growing...
A tribute, perhaps, to Kirika-chan's infinite cuteness?
As for the idea of Kirika becoming a mother...to be honest this image somewhat spoils her appeal (at least for the duration I hold it in my mind, as it is a rather unnatural thing).
Her children, while no doubt sweet little girls, do not hold the same attraction (I mean that in a non-sexual manner, of course) as the original (pre-mother) Kirika. After all, I found myself drawn to her in the first place by her vulnerability and sad circumstances, though admittedly to a lesser degree than Ayanami.
Her children would lack those 'qualities', unless they too became assassins, which would see them becoming part of a bad sequel to Noir. :P
Not to mention the fact that they would have to lose their mother (Kirika) before she allowed them to become assassins, an event I seriously doubt good Ronin would allow to take place.
Yes, he and his chainsaws and sharks and seals.
In my mind, for the sake of preserving said cuteness (kawaii), Kirika will remain preserved as the vision of loveliness she was in the series.
Ronin Aquila
28-04-02, 01:00 AM
True, I would do anything in my power to protect those sweet little girls from suffering like their mother did. :)
However, young mothers in anime are pretty cute too, you gotta admit. Ezra-Oneechan of Vandread is a prime example. :kawaii:
Kirika-Chan, being so sweet and protective (though somewhat melancholic) would fit right into the shoes of an adorable young mother. :kawaii:
Excession
28-04-02, 01:20 AM
Oh, I'll not deny she would make a nice mother. Surely she would, raising her children to be sweet and kind, as she is herself (but for what Artena forced upon her).
However still she would lose that certain something, at least in my eyes. *sighs*

do you know any moves with the katana? id be kinda scared to swing that around might end up doing sepku onto my self  i got a wooden sword so im more comfortable swinging that and cracking some bones with it :heh:
Ronin Aquila
02-05-02, 10:03 PM
Okay, here's a personal favourite stance, used by Kirika-Chan herself.
Hold the blade horizontally across your shoulders, edge facing the opponent. When his weapon comes cutting downwards towards you, allow the blade to hit the flat of your sword (and I stress flat ; you don't want to ruin a katana's edge) and allow your sword to be pushed downwards.
Here is the crucial part. Your blade must continue facing the opponent. And as soon as he has pushed your blade into a vertical or diagnal position, turn him into two by brining the blade in an upwards cut. ;)
Hope that helps. ;)
Serekith
04-05-02, 07:23 AM
Very nice sword. I have a wooden sword, a shinai (i'm not sure if that's spelt correctly) for Kendo, which I just started recently.
Interesting technique by the way. I suppose you realise that the opponent can do the same upwards cut to you from that position, so you'd have to be faster than the other person. Of course since you are defending and he already just swung his own blade, you have the advantage.;)
Argh, I really want a proper sword. Not for actual combat or anything, but'd it'd be nice to have.

If I had a little Sister Like Kirika-Chan, I would take her out to the park for Ice-Cream every day, help her do her homework, watch TV with her, and tuck her in every night. :kawaii:
Dryden-san
04-06-02, 07:12 AM
I would tuck her in, wait until she was asleep, then smother her with a pillow. Because having the best assasin in the world as a little sister would be extremely disturbing. Because, you know no matter how good a relationship you have with your little sister, there are going to be times when you hate each others' guts. If you have an ordinary sister (like mine), this means you have to listen to her shout at you constantly for half an hour straight. If Kirika-chan is your sister, it means you and your entire circle of friends will be murdered in your sleep. And God help you when it's that time of the month.
I can't believe this is the longest thread in the entire bloody forum. Hell yes, she's cute! But she's got to be one of the least interesting characters in the series.
...Never mind. Just... Get on with your Kirika-chan lovefest, or whatever makes you happy. Don't pay any attention to the bitter Altena fan sulking in the corner.
hahaha... do I sense a certain biterness in your voice :p ? Anyway, Kirika would not kill her relatives even if she does get mad. Well in Kirika's case, I think she would be frustrated and sad, I can't imagine her actually beeing mad. Remember how she tried to stop Chloe and Mireille from killing one another, she tried to stop it as long as she could. So there, get your geloucy induced
"smother her with a pillow" thoughts out of your head.

Trust me, your sister doesn't have to be a 'feminazi,' to be to a complete b*tch. And I still think Kirika would try to kill you at some point since no siblings in existence have ever gone more than a few weeks without fighting about something, I don't care how sweet she is. For the record, I'm not bitter because Kirika is a more popular character than Altena. Anyone with half a brain could have predicted the kawaii assassin would beat the evil schemer in a popularity contest. I just can't believe this thread has gone on for 39 pages. Meanwhile, the thread about the history of Altena's plans languishes for lack of discussion.
Well, maybe I am a little jealous... :p Still... 39 pages?
