is this movie any good?

ATh
It kinda depends, I think it's personal taste (as with all things) but some of my friends prefer the story in the TV better and some like the way the movie was done.
For $10 you're not really losing much there anyway :D
But DYRL is one of my all time fav animes, art, music, story and the whole ball of wax. It was made in 84 or 85 I think and the artwork doesn't even look that much out of date so I couldn't imagine what it may have looked like to the public back then.
Plot wise, it's slightly different (the relations with the two alien races) and some of the supporting character pilots aren't that much involved but there is a really well done fight scene with Max and Miria in it. I think it's really good.
And yeah, ONLY get the subbed one lest you end up with bleeding ears

YES GET IT!! ! of my all time favorites!! :D
Its kind of a wierd alternate storyline to the TV series. The fight scene with Max and Miria is one of the best in anime. And Jackal is right about the artwork. It was way ahead of its time and is really well done.
So just buy it! What is $10? ...wait thats at least 2 extra value meals!!
At least she/he sin't getting the dub of this shivvers
and i like dubs
I have a few english robotech cds.. minmei (sp) absoultutley rocks. there is no way she can be considered to be singing in tune let alone in tone.
Ill have to go and have a look later this weekend and see if it is still there.

they are completely different dubs, the robotech dub was fine for it's time but dyrl was only dubbed so they can show teach some japs english (dubbed by aussies). Let's just say they were inspired when they dubbed this ;)

WHAT!! the dub is by aussies? you must be kidding, americans are bad enough, a thick aussie accent would be jsut as bad.
your kind of making me want to hear the dub now.
Sometimes i jsut cant stop listening to minmei sing over and over. its hypnotically frightning at times.
hmmm. ill see about the tape tomorow if i can.

I think there's several dubs out there for DYRL. The one I have is by some Hong Kong actors who are just pronouncing everything phoneticly. It's pretty bad, but it is hilarious to hear.
"A MaN anD a WO_mAN?"
Well I don't know if the english dubbing is by aussies (if it was that would explain the phony american accent) and I know for sure that there's only one english dub and yeah, same thing
"A mAN And A WomAn?!" I got the proper english official release and it's got the same dubbing as Bionoids but with all the scenes intact. And I know a dub from HK would only be in cantonese so I'm quite sure everyone has sadly seen the same one
