I was browsing through the blockbuster near my house and came upon Blood: The Last Vampire on DVD. I picked it up and decided I was going to write my first Animeboards.com review and so I watched it. This is a film by Manga Entertainment and it would be rated a horror flick. It is not for the weak stomached :P
First of all, I was quite confused when I started watching it, in the title graphics it shows two cut lines above the very end of the title which could signify II as in second in a movie series. As I started watching it I was convenced there must be a movie infront of it yet so far I cannot find its existance. The opening to the movie could rival some of the best selling movies out there for just a sheer grand opening, it shows a little girl who looks like shes about to kill someone riding on a subway train, theo pening fades in and out between the girl and then the credits and ive got to say its wildly done. The movie is all digital and could rock Lain and Macross Plus out of the water, the graphics are just INSANE.
The storyline is never clear, apperently this little girl (who appears to be in highschool) is a vampire tho they dont say so until the very end (yet the title is a very big hint) and she hunts demons. The story is based in the setting of an american airbase in japan that is apperently housing some demons that need to die. The main character Saya wields a japanese sword and hunts them down. The entire movie is one big action scene with some funny humor and definate bloody violence that would even awe a roomfull of horror fans. The movie runs 48 minutes.
My score is as follows:
Video: A+
Storyline: C-
Extras: B+ (for the trailor and the extras)
Audio: A+ (sounded delicious on my stereo)
