The existance of this Forum

I enjoyed Blood: The last vampire just as much as everyone else, but can you hardly justify a forum for a friggin 48 minute movie that was JUST released in the US? Ghost in the Shell, Akira, etc other movies much longer and much more content to discuss dont even have their own forums. Is this no more than a moderators new toy? Thats all i see to see posting are moderators. And im wondering if it went through the same channels as it normally takes to get a forum for anything else.

I can see this forum dying very fast, was there a purpose for this? or just to add another forum to attract attention to this website?

only reason i can think of is that its an anime that eva2000 can walk down the street and see day to day ....

And you cant see Ghost in the Shell or Akira anywhere? If a anime store doesnt carry those movies on VHS AND DVD they arnt a real anime store, those two are the mom and pop of the american anime community.

exactly... this forum is here because it had many threads running thru the General Anime Discussion forum discussing the film. meanwhile, as he who claims not to be a doll has already pointed out, AKIRA and Ghost in the Shell don't have that many threads running, and the ones that are running are usually just requesting a forum. it's about the discussions going on rather than how popular it is umong "Anime Stores."

and i don't know who the hell decided AKIRA and Ghost in the Shell were the mother and father of the American Anime Community, that's a rather silly thing to suggest. depending on the time and decade that one was introduced to Anime, it changes greatly. as for some it's Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon, as for others it's Gundam Wing and Tenchi. many new people are now finding Anime thru Cowboy BeBop even. some of the older fans may have found Anime thru AKIRA and Heavy Metal or even Appleseed or Bubblegum Crisis.

I would greatly enjoy it if you posted some statistics to prove your point. Setting the properties of this forum to display all posts from the last 100 days, I see one thread started by a mod or admin and one thread in which the last post belonged to a mod. I undoubtably have the most posts in the forum for a mod, and I could only find seven threads in which I posted...compared to the seventeen the forum contains in total. Please, enlighten me. :)

Eva2000 creates anime forums when he wants to, there is no democracy or "normal channels" involved.

If 41% of the posts are made by moderators and there are 4500 users and only 10 are moderators it still proves my point that ALOT of the posts were made by moderators, more than any other forum, meaning that my statement has factual basis. I dont have the ability to count how many different people post in this forum but im pretty sure that once again alot of them will be moderators.

And lets dont go into the 'dictator' mode of the forum, I know that eva2000 runs this board but lets not forget who pays for alot of it and how boards run. Moderators exist to moderate posts and make sure no one is offending anyone else and therefor making the board a bad place to be. But lets be realistic here, sure Eva2000 runs this board because he likes anime but thats not the entire reason for it existing, Eva2000 is running a buisness. Hes making money selling the fact hes got 4500 users on a board that post a certain number of posts a day, he uses this to get ads for his board which inturn makes him money. He posts that he spends alot of money for this board but also lets be realistic again, this is not a fan running the site for no profit, this is a buisness, when he says hes spending 600$ a month, thats not his money but his company's. He runs a webservice which means he buys bandwith, hes using his own bandwith to host his webpages, his 600$ is probably his loss by doing it, im pretty sure he makes more than enough money to cover this. Im getting all this information from a private message he sent me a while back about what he did all day. If im wrong say so, but in the end I beleive even everyone has alot to say because this is a board and the board existance is based on its posters. Everytime i log on the board opens up that stupid cellphone ad and I payed my dues to post.

Well when i make my forum request i start off with if Blood the last vampire can have a forum and its48 minutes long how come (for an example) X not have a forum when it has

A 90 minute movie
18+ manga volumes
a 24 episode tv series

And i would dare say their is enough talk about X in the general and other anime forum for it to have over 250 posts already

I don't quite understand what you're saying here...are you first alleging that 41% of the posts on AB are made by mods? Seems far too large to me.

I fail to see the relevance. Yes, Eva runs the place like a business, but he had a real job in addition to being a webmaster. For the bulk of AB's life, he spent his own money on the hosting costs. Anyway, this is a thread about why this forum exists. The answer is because Eva2000 wants it to. His reasons could range from being a fan of the movie, to wanting a larger variety of anime on AB, to wanting to pull in fans who can't find a forum for the movie, etc., etc.

I don't see how wrong it is to have one extra and possibly worthless forum. If any forum is worthless right now, I'd have to say that it's the gasaraki forum(sadly enough:()

There is probably one or two worse than gasaraki but its true Gasaraki is in poor shape. Its due to a couple reasons, 1. its new, I give it another year before it starts having its really strong fanbase like other anime, and 2. Most anime addicts are really young, sadly enough, most of the youngsters cant really get into this series because its not all action, I would consider it more a drama type of theme, its main character is not a pilot but rather a beaurocrat trying to reshape japan.

Still the last DVD doesnt come out until the 29th, and i should recieve in the mail by the 3rd or 4th, so ill be watching it very soon and i will once again try to start up some posting in the gasaraki forum.

And id like to point out that the only discussion that has been happening in the Blood forum is this arguement :P

It doesn't matter. The discussion will come as it happens. The fans will watch and discuss the animes as they see fit. If some forums get less traffic, then that's what happens.

:eek: I didn't even notice this forum was here. I wouldn't have even guess of it ever possibly existing. I saw the movie like 6 months ago. I guess I was looking for Blood. :lol:
