what's the marduke institute? up untill tonight, i never really thought about what it was, and now i am clueless.

the Marduk institute's purpose is to select the candidates for eva pilots. however it is just a dummy corporation - in other words, it does not exist, NERV is the one responsible for selecting the Eva pilots.

Marduk was supposedly composed of 107 dummy corporations, the 108th was NERV - my original statement still stands.

The Japanese Govt and the JSDF remember thats why Kaji was so nosey and discovered this. Remember poverty was rife and Nerv was sucking up a lot of resources, it was to legitimise the selection of pilots and to make it look like a lot more work was being done than really was. It was a means of laundering money to fund the projects.
