What a coincidence....that's around the same time I bought the fansubs. Oh well. Yay...

I never did pick up the fansubs, so I REALLY can't wait for this series to be released. Looks like the first volume will contain five episodes. Thank you Media Blasters! I hope they do as good,or better, with this as they did Rurouni Kenshin.

nice. are they going to put five episodes per disc? that would be so much better. it pisses me off when they spread out the episodes of a series just to make more money. anime's already expensive enough as it is.
but if BeBop can be put on 6 discs, why can't Gasaraki and Eva? pisses me off. ------- 8 discs for 26 eps. blegh.
look at Key the Metal Idol. an awsome 13 episodes on two discs and one disc with the two 90 minute long episodes. that's amazing. why can't more companies do that ----?

Another wicked series on DVD I need to own. A previous thread (http://animeboards.com/t32657/s.html) dealt with the trailer some of us have seen on other Media Blasters videos. I wonder what the dub will sound like?
The Screeling

Yeah, I saw that trailer on the last two kenshin dvds, and I must say it was pretty damn sweet; one of the best trailers I've seen. It should snag a bunch of new fans for the series.
There was no info about all the discs containing five episodes or not, but I wouldn't be suprizied if some volumes had four episodes like R/K.
I havn't heard who will be used for the voice actors but they better make sure it's first class. Nothing ruins a good anime like a poor dub with mis-cast or lifeless, monotone voices.

i imagined it would have five eps per DVD because they could easily do it in a five Disc set - as five devides clearly into 25. don't know how many are in Kenshin total to relate.

Five eps. per disc would be great, but they could also do one five ep. disc and five four ep. discs. Since berserk was such an expensive title to licence I think they might try to stretch it to six volumes $$$. I'll hope for just five though.

i hate that. ------- bastards. i understand them needing money, but they don't need to rip us off like that -_-

Actualy, that was just speculation on my part. Accordint to right stuf it WILL be a five disc release with five eps. per disc. That's awesome, a good value for a great anime!

Berserk - "War Cry" (1-5)
Street Date: 04/30/2002
SRP: $29.95
In the castle town of Midland, a new king has come to power through treachery and violence. His demonic agents victimize the citizens unchecked, until the night when a battle weary soldier approaches the city. Covered in a slew of weapons and countless jagged scars, he calls himself the Black Swordsman. The sword he carries is the size of his grudge against the king, and he hunts the servants of evil with unrelenting fury. Media Blasters is proud to announce the launch of Berserk, our flagship title for the upcoming year. A medieval epic of war and intrigue with a European feel, Berserk is force that cannot be stopped.
Berserk is their hot pick for 2002. I see the hype rising already! As their flagship title, I have high expections on all the DVD's.
Darn-it, while this is great news, it also means more money go bye-bye :p
What I'm really hoping for is that this DVD will do well, inspiring someone to take advantage of its success to continue the series....hey, it could happen....

It seems I'm going to have to actually pull out my wallet again and drive myself further into debt. :) I still can't believe I've barely seen the series, bought the interesting DC game, and already consider myself a fan. It shows you how big of an impact the anime can cause to the head.

Limited Edition Poster in Initial Berserk DVD releases...
Picture here (http://www.animeondvd.com/images/Berserk_%20poster%20.jpg)
From Anime On DVD:
Poster notice (08:03 PM EST): The folks at Planet Anime (http://www.planetanime.com/cgi-bin/anime?;;animeondvd) let us know this afternoon that Media Blasters is going to include a poster with the first pressing of Berserk, based on initial preorders that are being set by retailers now. This means that not every copy will likely have one, so it'll be another collectable like the Magic Users Club poster. Click here (http://www.animeondvd.com/images/Berserk_%20poster%20.jpg) to see an image of it.

I take it you don't like Pioneer then? (3 eps a dvd)
Also Eva and Gasaraki were early ADV DVD releases, the newer ADV releases are 6 dvds a series.
I also don't see how 4 eps a dvd is ripping people off since 4 eps is the norm for dvd releases, any more eps on a dvd is a bonus.
And if Mediablasters puts it on 6 dvds and Berserks a raging success and they fund a new Beserk series because of the extra cash........
Good to see Berserk being a flagship title, though with how bad rurouni kenshins 3rd season is I can see why it's the flagship for this year....

Does anyone know how big the poster is going ot be?
It would suck if it is only a small one...

According to my sources, Berserk: War Cry release date has been postponed. Instead of the 4/30, it's being pushed to 5/28.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
*takes out his sawed off shot-gun and makes his way to Media Blaster's office*
Now what's this I hear about postponing berserk?

I hope this is because of high demand for the DVD... It would be awesome if Berserk is an instant success and they make enough money to produce a new series...

A longer wait can only mean their is even better things in store for the anime. We want a good release and that does take time. You don't want to push these kinds of things. As long as its good, they can take all of the bit of time they need to make everything perfect. :) I am still can't wait any longer myself though. :heh:
The delay is due to them using the R2 masters, how do i know this well www.animeondvd.com is a real good site, its forum owns if you want to know about the latest news since actual ppl from Mediablasters, ADV, Tokyopop, etc post on their
I'm sure you can wait that little extra time and enjoy the better quality.
