Your eyes are not playing tricks on ya. It is a flame torch or gun of some sort. This is explained after the episode 25 ending credits.

Yeah... Gattsu has some sort of prosthetic attached to where his forearm once was... It is also used to fire the little spearhead things... I'm not sure if Godo constructed this for him though...

The manga might explain it a little better as to how it was devised and what it can do...

Godo makes gatt's left artificial arm.
But this is after and without telling it to Godo that rickert placed a "Gun" (like Cobra) in the arm.
It is explain in the manga #14, at the same time of the explanation of how gatts found the "Dragon Slayer" (his Very Big Sword) in Godo's house.

In the Dreamcast game, its apparent that the arm is basically a metal gauntlet with a mini repeating crossbow/dart launcher and an explosive (what i dubbed my kill-em-good-boom-thrower) shotgun of a weapon.

yeah it was so fun blowing Mandragorans and soldiers to bits with that thing :D. i guess it could be thought of as being like a pocket nife. meaning it does more than one thing.

It's a canon not a flamethrower when gatts defeated the skeletons in the first manga he shoots a shell in the air.
Wish they would have released the dreamcast version in europe the sob's and fist fo the north star too.

well.......as for the Berserk console game, i think it was made ONLY for the dreamcast.....but there's always downloads and burned CDs :p there's always a way to get what you want, i guess :cool:
