Some Questions **SPOILERS SPOILERS*

now as i said i've just finished Lain, and due to my watching experience being similar to NGE, i'm going to ask some questions BEFORE watching it again.............

now here's how i seen lain's existance, do you think it's correct???

1/ Masami Eiri was used by "god" to make Lain (who was either a real girl or a piece of software don't know which yet) an omnipresent being on the wired, without masami's knowledge

2/ was it Masami Eiri who made up Lain's family OR was this just a ploy, by him, to make Lain think she wasn't real thereby making her more plyable to his directions

3/ was that company (forget the name, lain fixed his computer and asked her if she knew when she was born) trying to stop Masami Eiri from using Lain to break the barrier between the wired and real world.

4/ was it Masami Eiri who killed the men in black, the guy that met them in the car park said that the MIB should go where there's no power lines and satelite coverage. that means they're hiding from eiri or Lain, lain wouldn't want to kill them.

i've probably got more questions later

I've just finished the series so I'll give this a shot. There's a big chance that i'm way off base here but...

I don't think God played an active part in this. Masami was just an embittered man.
Lain is not real. Ok cancel that. Lain was born in the wired and became flesh. Whoa! Does that remind you of someone?

Her family was made up by Masami but the 'characters' all exist in the wired. Remember the 'conversations' she had with her father who probabaly loved her more than he was supposed to. The 'partial removal' of her elder sister puzzles me though.

I thought it could be Masami but then why the abortive 'payoff'. Why not just kill them since they were always wired. I suspect a company that was competing to hold the key to the protocols that govern the 'wired'. It could have been a remnant of the Knights but again why the 'payoff' (To confirm they were indeed who they said they were?).

no, i think they really existed, remember when her mother and father wonder to themselves when it's going to be over.
and her sister having her mind being taken away like that.
masami would just contol them himself, why would he endow them with intelligence (her sister) and thoughts of the future (her parents). AND the house existed

but masami didn't hire them, it was the company i talked of earlier. the knights i don't think HAD the power to kill ppl like that, only masami

Oh Yeah!! That's a toughie. Okay so you've got the Psyche chip. You integrate it into your Navi motherboard. You're able to draw knowledge from people you meet. Now where do you get £5000 to transform your state of the art (yet ordinary) Navi system to a liquid carbon cooled, ever expanding system with several firewalls, monitors and 'floating plasma screens'!!
It's not even running Linux!!

On the subject of her father, i recall him telling her that 'his work is completed and that she can now do anything she wants to'. That implies he was just stationed with her to act as guardian. He even said that he's not the 'house/home type'. It as simply his *given* duty to look after her.

1) If you're a person with almost godlike powers in the Wired, rising a few quid for new hardware shouldn't be that much of a problem. =)
