Is there going to be a second season?!!?!?

Ive been told this twice already, both by pretty reliable sources so my hopes are high :D - just wondering if anyone could confirm this :)

I also hear that because the first season left out a few main characters ie. Skull Knight and Puck *completely*- the 2nd season is going to be majorly different from the manga ;'(

I just read this at animeondvd.com, it was part of the Katsucon 8 news.

"Media Blasters:
Meredith wants to get the second season of Berserk, but they'll be waiting to see how it sells."

The way that statement is worded it seems that a second series is really happening! I have been scouring the internet for more news about it, but I can't seem to find anything else.

So, is a new season in the making?? :confused:

The person speaking could be talking about a second season in a hypothetical context. It could mean anything, especially since the speaker adds that "waiting to see how it sells" at the end. It doesn't mean anything beyond a confimation that there will be a second season, or a statement that they want to see how the DVDs of the TV series sell before continuing.

and also japanese tv companies told the people who made berserk that if they made a second series and it was more violent than the first they would not air it.

Berserk 2 is in pre-production!! I went to Media Blaster's booth later in the day to ask John Sirabella about this, and he confirmed it. HOWEVER, he stressed that all this meant was that the creative team in Japan was looking into creating more. It's not definite, yet. If this does happen, you would assume that Media Blasters would get first crack at it, though. The ANN guy told me that at the panel, it was mentioned that this new season might not air on Japanese television, due to all of the glorious violence.

As much as I hope there would be one I don't think there will be. If you've read the manga you would know how violent things get where the tv series ends, who knows maybe we'll get a butchered season 2 on tv. But some have said if there was a second season it would be released directly to video, which would also be bad considering OVA's aren't 26 episodes. Either way it doesnt really look bright.

BTW, anyone disappointed about no skullknight in season 1?

It's about bloody time they did a new series- the end of the 1st one was screaming out for a continuation. Although if there was one, it would take about 10 years for it to be released in America or the UK.
But it would be great-new characters, better animation, a re-mix of the theme song (-wipes away saliva-).
