I don't like Tooya. He's not so bad looking, I'll admit. And he does have some resemblance to Tamahome (Yeah Tamahome!), but he's just too GLOOMY. I like Yuuhi better. He's more better looking, and... he's just more better, in everything. He's also more like tamahome, except for the looks. This is just my opinion.

ok, now for some intelligence.

i do not like tooya because of the simplicity behind his character. sure he had that whole cool thing at the end, but still, i feel that his character building throughout the whole show has been nul. he sais he loves aya, well, that's just great, except that he sort of sucks at showing his love...hugging aya in the dark for like 5 minutes is not a very good show of his love.

i personally feel that he has been given the whole "I don't remember anything about me thing" so that watase yue (sp) didn't have to waste time developing him. his past was semi-interesting, but frankly i did not feel he had depth.

he lacked the motive and sheer beauty of a character such as yuuhi. i adored yuuhi, and all the sacrifices he made for aya.

the fact that touya looks a lot like tamahome doesn't help either. it's true that FY was an interesting show, however, the main couple, in my opinion, sucked. they had very few good lines, and well, by the end you just got sick of them. or at least I did.

tooya is similar to tamahome, in the fact that he wants to protect the girl he loves, and that he has his own internal demons to fight before he can commit himself to her side completely. i think i've seen the whole internal demons thing too long to consider it interesting. plus, his whole story wasn't that great either. well, the end of it was very interesting, but how he came to lose his memory and all, was just... bleh.

and frankly, you'd think he'd be able to control himself better and NOT get aya pregnant... that just sort of made me dislike him even more.

the nice thing was that in the end of all ends aya will end up with yuuhi, although i don't think aya deserves yuuhi.

i dislike both aya and touya and i think that they make a great couple BECAUSE they're two of a kind. they're sort of more screwed up and gutsy copies of tamahome and miaka, and i really disliked them.

Touya is my favorite character in the series. I've only seen four episodes so far though so I can't count for much but I like his mysterious look. Also when he says protect Aya from me. That was cool. I got to see the rest of it though I like the series a lot.

One, Tooya is actually a combination of Tamahome, Tasuki, and Nakago. The only aspect of Nakago he really has is his tendancy to look rather emotioinless.

Two, HOTOHORI IS NOT UGLY. Whoever says Hoto-chan is ugly really needs their head examined. That, I wouldn't trust that person's opinions on the attractiveness of bishies in the least. After all, Hoto is the most beautiful of all the bishounen (though Tasuki will always be my fave!! ^_^).

Three (SPOILER!! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED/READ THE SERIES), the hagoromo is not actually a robe... It's her mana. So, no, Ceres will not be wearing Tooya as a coat... *rolls eyes*

Four, Yuuhi actually is like Keisuke (Miaka's older brother) from FY, not Amiboshi. Amiboshi/Suboshi would be Aki.

Five, Aya is not like Miaka.

Six, Tooya not only has a very interesting background that makes the viewer (like me) want to watch more and more to find out just what the hell is going on, but he also has a mysterious character that becomes warmer and warmer as the show goes on. So, he DOES develope as a character.

Seven, he's mine. No one else is allowed to touch. *draws katana*

Eight, PA-chan, hon... Watase Yuu is a woman, not a guy... And she's one of my manga gods. I bow down to her greatness and her power to draw bishies (oh, and write stories that make me addicted).

Tooya can be Tamahome's clone, though Tooya gets the better lines. If I were to pick between Tama and Tooya I'd pick Tooya, only cuz he has better lines. *sighs*

But I don't know, I wouldn't pick either if I think about it. I can't bring myself to see Tooya's good side... sorry. Watase Yuu always has better supporting characters, from what I have seen.

In Fushigi Yuugi, Tasuki and Chichiri and Hotohori *drool drool* and Nuriko were amazing. As well as Amiboshi/Suboshi Soi and the bad gang of supporting characters.

In Ayashi no Ceres, Yuuhi, Chidori and Yuuhi's sister, Aki (he wasn't quite major... more like so and so) Alex (my fansubs said Alec... sorry if I confused anyone) and the rest of them were sooo good.

I found the main characters in the show a bit... cliche. It was like seeing an alternate version of Tamahome and Miaka. (sorry, I can't get that out of my head) I know there are HUGE differences, but yeah, that thought sort of just kept haunting me as I watched the series. The similarities are striking. For example how at first it's Aya that goes after Tooya and sort of forces the whole romance on him. It was similar in Fushigi Yuugi, with Miaka confessing her love at like the fourth episode. By the end of Fushigi Yuugi I personally got tired of Miaka saving Tamahome and vice versa. It was just too tiring and I found it difficult to watch them on screen. While Ayashi no Ceres wasn't that long, and it had some very interesting plot turns around episode 19, it was a bore to watch Aya and Tooya together up to that episode. After episode 19 it became easier, and I didn't hate their pairing that much. However, up to episode 19, their whole romance was very alike with Fushigi Yuugi.


I haven't seen the manga, and apparently the manga is way different. I'm only talking about the way they made the show here.

I like Yuhi over Touya, and I like Tamahome more over Touya. Tamahome had more of a personality than Touya. It seems like Ms. Watase gave Tamahome's personality to Yuhi then his looks to Touya. And I don't like the results. That's why I like Yuhi better.

So PhantomAngel, I'm so glad I read your spoiler and now know that's what happens!

And yes, despite all the similarities of mindset to Miaka, I like Aya better. One thing I never understood with Watase's girls, they like the guy who's most available at the present time!

Yuuhi has way more character building than Tooya throughout the whole series, and although his roles oscilate between almost major and really minor characters, he is way better than Tooya.

I would not say that Yuuhi has tamahome´s personality, but it depends on what you consider personality by. I think Yuuhi is the typical guy in love with a girl that he can´t have. That was never Tamahome´s personality, and Watase Yu built their characters on the romantic factor (more or less) (after all, Tamahome does stuff because he loves Miaka and he´s destined to protect her, and arguably Yuuhi does the same thing for the same reasons, however I personally believe that Yuuhi protects Aya so much because he also wants Aya to love him. As you can see their situations are very similar, but a wee bit different)

In any case, it´s only a way of seeing it. Personally I didn´t like Tamahome much either. He didn´t have much character building or depth. Just like Tooya.

Meanwhile Yuuhi has that depth throughout the whole series.

Yup, Yuhi does do that. And I like it, rather than Touya who just accepts it like it's so natural and nothing to work at.

I find that Yuuhi, Tooya, and Aya themselves do not have the same personalites as their Fushigi Yuugi "counter-parts".

They DO look the same, but I see no problem there. (:drool: Watase is truly the queen of bishie hotness.)

My gripe is that the inter-personal relationships and plot situations just scream RECYCLING!!!!!

I could go on and on: ***SPOILERS***all Tooya-Aya scenes, the Tooya-Aya-Yuuhi triangle, the "forgetting my memory and loving your enemy who looks a bit like Yui" episode (Cmon! That girl was a great character. The whole "I'm stealin your man" thing was totally unnecessary.)

I agree with whoever said this too: I just want to strangle the protagonists, but the supporting cast is great! I love the Suzumi character, Shouta, the "other Ceres" girl (I really need to remember her name...). Its the supporting cast who have the best moments, IMOP.

also, shaylashayla, i have to agree with chikiboo. i think that tooya wasn't giving aya to yuuhi but rather, it was his way of asking yuhhi to look after her. it kinda shows that this seemingly inanimate character has feelings after all.
