Does anyone else think that the Pillows sound an awful lot like a certain band out of Boston named the Pixies?

If you have no clue what I am talking about, the Pixies were a band from Boston, Massachusettes consisting of Charles Thompson (billed as Black Francis in the liner notes), Kim Deal, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering. The band is often considered one of the msot influential in rock history have been an influence on Nirvana, Weezer, Guns and Roses, Radiohead, and various other bands.

Upon listening to the Pixies Surfer Rosa and Doolitle, I have come to the realization that the Pillows are nothing more than a band that wants to sound like the Pixies. Has anyone else who has heard both the Pixies and the Pillows and not thought the same thing?

I will admit that I know only a handful of songs from The Pixies. I'll also admit that the only songs I know from The Pillows are the ones in the anime and I'm only very familiar with the ones off the second OST.

However, what little I know says The Pillows sound more like a post modern Nirvana than The Pixies. Yes, I know Nirvana was influenced by The Pixies.

i'm fairly familiar with the Pixies, as i especially used to be a fan of them.



no. i don't think the Pillows are nothing more than a band who wants to sound like the Pixies.
