I'm interested in hearing what you guys think about the character, Alycone. Every time I watch MKR, I start to like Alycone better than anyone else on the show. Why? I do not know the answer. So, your thoughts? Is she merely a whining b*tch or an underrated asset?

As stupid as this sounds, I think Alcyone is a rather pathetic character, but that does not mean I do not like her. Before you think about that sentence for three seconds, giving you an angerism, let me explain.

Alcyone is pathetic in the sense that she betrayed her master, her people, her princess, and herself. And for what? Some jerk who blew her off without a word of kindess. It was meanigless and a lost cause. SHe is pathetic in the literary sense, and that's what makes her such an interesting character.

I didn't really like Alcyone in the first season... I did feel a bit sorry for her towards the end, but she just wasn't likeable. In the second season I like her a bit better then in the first season. Alcyone is just one of those character, I think, that you will either completely fall for or you just could care less if shes there or not.

I didn't mind Alcyone's character, she added a unique feeling to certain scenes with her presence. Although how she was portrayed in the second season is the one I liked the most.

You might have misunderstood my meaning, Suzaku. I like Alcyone very much. She's one of the better characters in MKR, as a matter of fact. What I was saying is that she betrayed Clef, helped Zagato, hurt people, and betrayed her princess, merely because she loved someone, and was so blinded by that love to realize Zagato didn't give a hoot about anyone except(SPOILER ALERT!!!)Emeraude. She is a pathetic character, in the sense of her experience pertaining her blind love. She even asked herself what it was all for when she found out the truth. It's actually a bit complicated to explain, really. Does anyone here grasp my meaning?

Yes, I do. I was pretty impressed with your assessment of her character. :)

No problem, Su. Like I said, it's complicated. If I hadn't written it, I probably wouldn't get what was said, either.

BTW, Thanks HildaChan. What's your take on the character in question?

Wow...... what I was going to say has been said *falls over* I have been beaten XD;;; I sorta feel sorry for her I guess.... I mean..... her mistake destroyed alot of things for her. Its kinda unnerving really.... how one major mistake can not only hurt you but so many around you. And once that mistake has been made, its so hard to go back ^.^;

I like Alcyone pretty well. As was said, you really pity her in the 1st season and in the 2nd season, you see a completely different side to her. She really is a deeper character then what she first appears.

Alcyone is just pure coolness. That's all I have to say. (I love the way her eyes are drawn in both anime and manga). :cool:

couldn't stand her at first but towards the end of the first series when Zagato rejected her i felt sorry for her. and what happens to her in the end really sucked.

Alcyone reminds me a LOT of one of X's (another CLAMP work, in case you didn't know ^^) characters, Kanoe. I like both to some degree, but neither are among my favorite characters.

Alcyone is pretty tragic, really. Here's this beautiful, seductive, powerful woman who falls for the wrong guy and screws up everything around her because of it. Ah, the things love can do to ya.

That is pretty tragic, yet sad at the same time. Of course, I also kind of agree with Foxxe at the same time and that she is just put in the story to be a little first time battle thing that helps the girls get their magic and she is supposed to REALLY HOT!! Which, she is.... :rolleyes:
