Of all the things to read, I found this rather amusing. Whether you find this a good thing or a bad thing is all on your point of view... but the way i see it, its just straight up funny.

From an item posted in the forum by Tenchi.

The Agape Press, a Christian news organization run by Reverend Donald Wildmon's American Family Association, is reporting that Taco Bell has halted their Cardcaptors Clow Card promotion as a result of customers' complaints.

Apparrently the customer's were bothered by the Clow Cards' resemblance to "tarot cards used in occult practices."

Lori Gannon, Taco Bell's national promotions director, is quoted in the article as saying, "So we took a look at the items and we've held them all at the distribution center -- we're not sending them to our restaurants any more and pretty much have ended the program."

However there is no mention of this on any reputable news source and Taco Bell's website still sports the promotion.

That's plain hilarious! Not to mention stupid and idiotic. So what if it looks like occult images? Why is halloween accepted? It's the same stupid reason some parents didnt want their kids to read Harry Potter since it had wizards and magic... nod*

Ah yes the usual blasphemy of complete censorship in which if one person doesn't like the view on an object, they go and say it's evil. You gotta love the stupidity of vast people. It makes people with common sense look like geniuses.

When I first read that earlier today, all I could do was roll my eyes. That's highly, highly ridiculous.

I almost wonder where these whining customers are from...they've got to be from somewhere near me...-_-

Hmm. Sakura did do a tarot like reading in one of the eps to work out what one of the cards were.

There's another statement that comes to mind that slightly applies. "The individual is intelligent. The masses are stupid."

Well, if anyone says that to you, make the comment that you think the devil is making think such things.

I second that. There are no good religions post the birth of Christ. Haven't quite figured out why yet. Might be the developments during the Middle Ages that really warped them... Looks like thread worthy topic. Anyone know where this should go?

A fake? Since when does Anime News Network Give out fake articles? Its for real.

Heres a link since you can't believe me.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=1646

and in case you dont' believe that that link is real heres the article copied from ANN

Taco Bell representative Laurie Gannon has confirmed to us that the company had stopped distribution of Cardcaptors Clow Cards as a result of customer's complaints.

Taco Bell, which serves 40 million customers every week, had received aproximately 100 complaints from customers who had mistaken the Clow Cards for Tarrot Cards which are used in "occult practices." "If you look at the show you see what they really are," remarked Gannon, "but we understand how they could have been misrepresented."

Taco Bell ceased distribution at its warehouse of two of the four products involved in the promostion, "Li summons the glow" statue and the "Video viewer" however continued to be distributed. Several hundred cases of Clow Cards were held back at the Taco Bell warehouse.

Taco Bell has no problem using Anime in future Kid's meal promotions, however they will be more careful about items that could be similarly misconstrued (both Anime related and not).

that article is obviously a fake. As anyone should know. You are obviously an idiot who seems to want to challenge people simply because you want to stand out. I would accuse you of being a fake before I accused someone who had genuine proof as well as a reliable newsource from which to quote said story. If you had proof that it was a fake story to back up your claim that might make your claim viable but NO you just make a statement to stand out from the other people. Next time you want to challenge someone of credability have some facts to back it up.

They haven't. I've only called of one time that they misreported, and the quickly reported it has a misreport. This article was even verified by a Taco Bell reprentative... ~shurgs~ I guess you can believe it or not. :|

Now I would say that after studying the link given, it can be true. But I have previously seen fake articles. These purport to be from some respectable news network, but due to the new URL rules, even those with web addresses of those networks can be fake. Do some research on those new URL rules.

Project Akira. Don't be a dick. Who's the idiot going around being so bloody emotional over 3 sentences, and then presuming to know everything about the person who posted it? I would, as any normal person, considering the proof given at the time of posting, be a sceptic. You are acting like a troll wanting a fight.

That is just plain stupid to just make a guess like that! They should of asked first to see what exactly the cards where before complaining about them! This girl in my school brought in some Cardcaptor cards and the teacher found her showing them to me, she took them away from her a ripped 'em up and threw them away because she thought they were Tarot Cards, and after she told them what they really were she didn't even say she was sorry!!! :redhot:

First book burnings of Harry Potter (I like Harry Potter by the way), now this! I try to ignore things that deal with stuff like that and just enjoy the anime or book or whatever it is! If a story deals with a Religion crisis or somthing like that, I ignore that and just get on with watching the show. People that had a problem with Harry Potter burned the books and what they were doing was showing how much the hate it, instead of just excepting that it existed and should of just ignored it, the burned a wonderful series!! People should stop doing things like that and ignore it!

*grumbles* evil ppl stoping the taco bell clow cards before I could complete my collection!:redhot:

It is unfortunate that common sense is such a rare find...A few years ago, when it was "pointed out" that Kadabra was a satanistic Pokemon, my neighbor almost had to trash his entire collection of Pokemon cards. Of course, his parents are a) not very welcome to large change against their will, and b) are extremely Christian. I, however, am an atheist, so I didn't comment on this...

BUT, I like Harry Potter, and it made me VERY mad when they started saying that THAT was satanistic and evil, and all that junk. In fact, in my area, the firepolice decided that they weren't going to help a boy's club with a parade or something, because they read Harry Potter to the boys after school. Have you ever HEARD of anything so RIDICULOUS?!?!?!

And saying that the Clow Cards resemble tarot cards is okay, but just automatically assuming that they are, and taking them away is just messed up. It doesn't help that "public" schools, at least in Lancaster County (Pennsylvania), hold very conservative veiws on everything, and would probably suspend a kid for bringing in Clow Cards.

I can't tell which is worse, saying that Pokemon, or CCS is evil. Some people out there are just so incredibly prejiduced against the unknown.

Sounds like lawsuit material. I've just about had it up past there *points somewhere way above his head* of having to pay for other people's ignorance. Society would do well to hold such people accountable for their stupidity. Or we could burn them at the stake for being a religious zealot. :P Not that there's anything wrong with being one. It's just tit for tat. Sheesh, some people think they know everything :rolleyes2

So they actually stopped it? I suggest a petition to the restaurant chain to distribute the remainder of the cards by other means. That way the ignorami can have their phobias and everyone else can have their Clow Cards.

Government shall establish no religion....

Remember it not only keeps government from imposing a religion, but it is also to keep religion and religious fanatics, including the Christian extreme right, from imposing it's will upon government.
Take a stand or one day you will have no freedom of ANYTHING!!!. Since the airways are controlled by the government.... well expand it from there....
